over $21 7,000 raised In November 2008, Santa was on hand to help us announce our commitment to donate $250,000 to the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation, in support of their Emergency Centre Campaign. As a result of this donation, the Emergency Room Triage and Registration area will be named after Guildford Town Centre! We are excited to say that we are very close to fulfilling this commitment and by the end of this year, we will have achieved our goal thanks to the generosity of our customers. Guildford customers support this commitment through programs such as Photos with Santa, Heart of the Holidays fundraiser, stroller rentals and gift wrapping services. On February 19, 2013, Sarah Kocaba, SMHF’s Director, Corporate & Community Giving, was on hand to help us top up our test tube donation monitor to record the $217,000 in donations already raised. Surrey Memorial Hospital, the second largest in BC, opened in 1959 and today serves a diverse cultural population of more than 600,000. It has the busiest ER in the province. Visit smhfoundation.com for more on the Foundation.

The Youth Event Series (Y.E.S.) started up in Fall 2010 when Guildford Town Centre entered a partnership with the City of Surrey to put together a calendar of events which entailed youth creating events for youth. This series has provided youth with opportunities to share information about their organizations and gain event planning skills. Already, the Welcoming and Inclusive Communities (WIC) has presented “What Makes You Smile?”, and Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad (SYSS) recently planned and hosted “Battle of the Plants”, teaching people about invasive plants in Surrey. More events scheduled for Y.E.S. in 2013 are: • April 4 – Surrey Libraries Teen Advisory Group (TAG) presents Career Café, an opportunity to explore career opportunities by connecting with professionals and gaining job search tips. • May 1 – City of Surrey Youth Services host a Youth Week kickoff. • June 6 – Youth Arts Council of Surrey (YACOS) presents Fashion Runways.

rich history. bright future. It’s an exciting time for Ivanhoé Cambridge, Guildford Town Centre and the surrounding community. It’s not everyday you have the opportunity to be a part of history and the future at the same time. As the shopping centre is being transformed into the largest regional shopping centre this side of the Fraser River, the modern changes are hard to miss. Elegant new tile completely changes the face of the centre and in the summer, this will be complemented by soft seating. Our spectacular living walls are already hard at work creating a calming atmosphere – and a cleaner one at that! What’s beautiful about the new master design for the shopping centre is it reflects what we’re all about on the West Coast – an environmentally conscious attitude with an organic edge, celebrating a rich heritage and

optimistic of a bright future. The redevelopment is a fresh start for the centre, and with the elimination of smoking on the property and the planting of 600 new trees, Guildford Town Centre is setting an example and leading the way for a sustainable future based on healthy living. While we may be changing, our retailers still offer a full shopping experience and there is more to come. Plus, it’s easier to get around and you’ll find plenty of parking and easy access to the new parkade off of 150 Street. Words cannot express it. There’s only one way to fully enjoy all these wonderful changes, now and in the future, and that's to simply come out and see us. rich history. bright future. Be a part of it.
