LITTLE WOMEN, THE MUSICAL, A HIT The Studio Theatre’s production of Little Women is getting rave reviews from audiences. The classic favorite book comes to life in unique ways with some scenes produced with a shadow image effect between past and present as Jo tells her animated stories. The production keeps up a lively pace, filling the stage with dance and song. In this scene Josephine March, (Stacey Poirier right) begs her grumpy Aunt March, (Liz Smith), to take her to Europe with her. Alas it is not to be. Little Women continues this week and next week. People are advised to get tickets early as this is bound to be a sellout. The cast includes Kathleen MacDonald, Sarah Hanet, Moriah Smith, Val Hanet, Mark Kroeker, Cody Slin, Don Fornwald, Jay Goddard, and Jenn Dryden. Tickets are available at About Face Photography. The Fraser Basin Council is hosting Embracing Our Diversity, a one-day forum in Williams Lake on diversity, multi-culturalism and anti-racism next week. The interactive forum is set for Tuesday, March 12 and will utilize an arts-based process to explore community issues and experiences around multi-culuturalism and inclusion and to record issues, dialogue and outcomes. The Canadian Mental Health Association, Cariboo Chilcotin Branch (CMHA CCB) is working with FBC to co-ordinate the forum. “My position allows me to be part of some very unique and innovative projects,” says Bettina Schoen, manager for the Multiculturalism Program at CMHA CCB. “That help to build community and bring people of many differ-

ent cultural backgrounds together. CMHA’s Multiculturalism Team is looking forward to sharing experiences with community members at the Embracing Our Diversity Forum.” Other project partners include the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society and the City of Williams Lake with Anne Burrill, manager of social development, and city Coun. Laurie Walters participating, “The Williams Lake Diversity Mural Project is an exciting project for the city to be involved with,” Walters says. “It is wonderful that we will be discovering ways to broaden awareness of the multiple ethnicities of people who work live and play in Williams Lake.” PeerNetBC’s executive director Iris Yong will also be an active participant in the forum. Yong was in Williams Lake last year to provide

facilitation training to the City of Williams Lake Junior Council. This forum is the first in a series of activities that are part of a larger project that will roll out over the spring and summer. Fraser Basin Council (FBC) proposes to carry out a communitybased arts engagement project that uses the arts to bring diverse groups together. The culmination of the project will see an outdoor painted mural designed and installed at Jubilee Place with participation of community members of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Well-known local artist Dwayne Davis, whose mural work can be seen all round Williams Lake, will be coordinating the mural installation. Participation in community art projects builds bonds between all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. A community whose members are en-
