Bruce Reynold Phelps
August 28, 1946 ~ December 9, 2012
Bruce Reynold Phelps passed away after a sudden ailment on December 9, 2012 at the age of 66 years. Bruce was born to parents Lily and Paul Phelps on August 28, 1946 in Rossland, BC. On October 7, 1967, Bruce married the love of his life, Louise Wilson in Creston, BC and after having three beautiful sons, Darryl, Corey and Brandon, their family was complete. Bruce had worked numerous jobs including: Wynndel Box and Lumber, Department of Highways, IMASCO and Columbia Brewery for seven years before he and Louise decided they wanted to become entrepreneurs. Their Àrst business was ´3 Sunsµ trucking company then Bruce’s OilÀeld Sales and Services, Phelps Transport, Bracoda Environmental and currently Northern Waste Disposal. Bruce was an active member in whatever community he happened to be in. He was a part of Creston Kinsmen, Kamloops Fire Department, Red Deer and Red Earth Creek Boys and Girls Club, Red Earth Creek Fire Department, Red Earth Creek School Board, Northern Care, World Vision (sponsoring three children) and also a member of Lion and Lamb Ministries. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Lily and Paul Phelps; infant brother Brian; father-in-law Jens Wilson and his close uncle Chester Phelps. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 years, Louise of Red Earth Creek, AB; son Darryl (Amy) Phelps of Red Earth Creek, AB with grandchildren Gabrielle, William, Zachariah, Noah and Rosealynn; son Corey (Jill) Phelps of Wynndel, BC with grandchildren Malcolm and Ryan; son Brandon (Sheila) Phelps of Grande Prairie, AB with grandchildren Cecily and Olivia; like sons Lee (Lynn) Potter of Red Deer, AB and Todd Ainsworth and Kaitlin of Edmonton, AB; brother Allan (Delores) Phelps of Chemainus, BC; sisters Shirley (Clifford) Parisloff of Yorkton, SK, Lila (Stuart) Moore of Canyon, BC and Linda (Tony McCurdy) Braden of Wembly, AB. A Funeral Service was held Friday December 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry Haberstock ofÀciating.

Nina Louise Nesbitt (nee Phipps) December 27, 2012 Nina Louise Nesbitt (nee Phipps), of Creston, BC, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 81 years. Nina was born to parents Harry and Martha Phipps in Burdett, $B. The youngest of ÀYe children, the Phipps came by horse and wagons to Creston when Nina was two years of age. Nina was a long time employee of the Creston Valley Co-op and later went to work at the Packing Shed when Co-op closed. Nina was predeceased by parents Harry and Martha Phipps; sister Vi Starks; and brother Ray Phipps. She will be remembered by her three children, Barbara Bailey of Fort St. James, BC, Bruce (Deb) Nesbitt of Stoney Plain, $B, and Mary Jane Jackman of FruitYale, BC; two sisters Marble Gray and Lois Price of Creston, BC; eight grandchildren; twelYe great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Graveside Service was held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, BC. Judith Margaret (Judy) Stevenson (nee Sirianni) September 3, 1941 ~ December 30, 2012 Judith Margaret (Judy) Stevenson (nee Sirianni) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on December 30, 2012 in the Creston Valley at the age of 71 years. Judy was born to parents Edna and Dan Sirianni on September 3, 1941 in Vancouver, BC. Judy was an avid and very talented quilter. She was a part of the Quilts 4 Kids, Quilting Guild and Beehive Unlimited Group. She was also on the Ducks Unlimited Committee. Judy was predeceased by her parents Edna and Dan Sirianni; sister Joan Trocz and brother Gerry Sirianni. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of forty-nine years, Les; sons Kevin (Judy) and their daughter Keely; Darren (Josie) and their children Lucas, Melissa and step-son Stephen; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Canyon Community Hall with Canon Randy :ood ofÀciating. Gustav (Gus) Miller passed away suddenly at his residence on December 23, 2012 at the age of 82 years, following a lengthy illness. Gus was born to Augusta and Gustaf Miller on August 6, 1930 at Mellowdale, Alberta, where he received his formal education. Gus and Anna moved to Creston in 1966 from northern British Columbia. He worked for 45 years in the garage business, the last being the building of Rainbow Equipment, selling International farm equipment. He enjoyed family and friends, holidaying in Arizona with family and growing a large vegetable garden. Gus will be sadly missed by his wife Anna; son Russell (Leeane) of Creston; daughter Laurel, and granddaughters Dawn and Erin Miller. The Funeral Service was held on Friday December 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at New Life Christian Church with Pastor Gordon Lawrence ofÀciating. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, BC. Raymond Brost November 3, 1928 ~ December 22, 2012 Raymond Brost passed away on December 22, 2012 in Creston, BC at the age of 84 years. Ray was born to parents Elsie and Emanuel Brost on November 3, 1928 in Richmound, SK. Ray married the love of his love, Helen Scott, in Canyon, BC on June 22, 1949 and they started their family together, something that he always held dear. Ray was Helen’s rock – a constant source of support throughout their marriage, an incredible and loving father and an inspiration to his grandchildren… he never ceased to amaze them. Any time spent with Ray was very precious to his family and friends alike, creating many positive memories. Ray was very proud to have served in the Armed Forces division of the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (R.C.E.M.E.) for ten years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 29 in Creston, BC. Some of Ray's hobbies included spending time with his beloved family, tending to his garden – where he grew the best tomatoes in town – and spending time outside with his wife, Helen, and their precious little dog, Tia. He always had open arms to welcome a friend or family member into their home. Ray was predeceased by his parents Elsie and Emanuel Brost and brothers Elroy, Tony, Wayne and Vernon Brost. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Helen; children Larry (Carol) Brost, Su (Lyn) Klimack, Lori (Bill) Cameron and Clayton Brost; grandchildren Anita Borkowski, Colin Brost, Danielle Cameron; great-grandchildren Mordachai, Haley and Riley; and sister Lorraine (Bob). There will be no service by request. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ray’s name may do so to the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 29, Box 135, Creston, BC, V0B 1G0. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time of sorrow.
