Ktunaxa remain firmly opposed

Ktunaxa disappointed in Resort Muncipality designation Annalee Gr ant Townsman Staff

The Ktunaxa Nation remains steadfast in their opposition after the Jumbo Glacier Resort was granted resort municipality status Tuesday. Kathryn Teneese, Ktunaxa Nation chair, said the nation will gather on November 30 at their new government headquarters to rally for Qat’muk, the home of the Grizzly Bear Spirit, as nation members launch their application for judicial review of the Jumbo Glacier Resort master development plan (MDP) in Vancouver. Teneese will be in Vancouver to deliver the application and the Ktunaxa are expected to make a statement as they file the application in B.C. Supreme Court.

Grade eight students from Selkirk Secondary School in Kimberley spent a day travelling around the community and area in order to learn first-hand where their water comes from, where it goes after it’s used and how important it is to look after water and keep watersheds healthy. The field trip was part of Know Your Watershed, a water stewardship program developed by Columbia Basin Trust and local environmental educators. To learn more, visit www.cbt.org/waterstewardship. recognize those who have dedicated themselves to service to their fellow citizens, their community and their country. In addition to 27 years on Council, where he currently chairs the Finance Committe, Ratcliffe is long time board member and advocate
