The City of Greenwood has announced the appointment of Robin Dalziel, CGA, MBA as chief administrative officer for the City of Greenwood, effective Nov. 1, 2012. Dalziel has previous experience as an instructor in financial management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and as an assistant professor in the business faculty of Trinity Western University. He attained his certified general accountants designation in 1985 and his masters of business administration in 1989 from Simon Fraser University. Locally, Dalziel has owned and operated Joybilee Farm, an agri-tourism and artisan business from 2003 to the present. He has been the treasurer of the Boundary Artisan Association, the vice-president of the Grand Forks Farmers’ Market Association, and treasurer of the Greenwood

and District Public Library. Dalziel has worked with many local groups and associations in the Boundary area and looks forward to working with Greenwood City Council. The search to find someone to fill the position began in mid-June when CAO Gerry Henke announced his retirement after serving in the position since 1999. “When we looked at his application we thought based on his financial skills that he’d make a good chief financial officer,” said Mayor Nipper Kettle. “As time was getting on and Henke was getting ready to retirement we went through the résumés again and agreed that Dalziel has all the financial skills we are going to require and the other things we can train him to do.” With that in mind the city will be sending the

new CAO to a one-day seminar on record keeping, and the Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts later this month. “You would have to do that with any CAO you hired,” said Kettle. “He’ll be on a six-month probation period. Even during the six-month probationary it will be a process,” explained Kettle. “For me it’s always been about follow-up. I want to know when the CAO brings something to the table that all the supporting documents are in place so that it will help council make a good decision.” Henke will remain with the city helping Dalziel get up to speed on his new job until his retirement. Going forward council plans to maintain city hall staffing levels at four, down one from recent years.
