To honour years of dedication to Ultra sports, Peach City Runners & Adventure Sports debuted the “Steven King 100km Classic Ultra Marathon and Relay” along with corporate sponsors; Town of Princeton, District of Summerland and Subway. The inaugural Steve King 100km Classic solo ultra/team relay from Princeton to Summerland took place on September 15 of this year. Valley First, Princeton Loonie Bin & Bakery, Vermilion Trail Society, China Ridge Trails, Princeton Weyerhaeuser, Teepee Lakes Resort, Tellier’s Fisherman’s Cove, Hoodoo Adventures and the Summerland Builders Mart provided set up and stations along the route. Steven King himself, began the race and cheered participants on along the way. The race began at 6 a.m., starting on Burton Avenue beside the Princeton Subway. There were eight stages to the race: Start to Maverick Ranch Crossing (16.3 km), Maverick Ranch Crossing to Rocky 7 Ranch (14.6 km), Rocky 7 Ranch to the Bankier Community Sign (9.9 km), Bankier Community Sign to Three Lakes Store (7.9 km), Three Lakes Store to Reservoir Road (13.5 km), Reservoir Road to Trout Creek Camp Ground (15.8 km), Trout Creek Camp Ground to the Faulder Intersection (13.6 km) and Faulder Intersection to Memorial Park Finish. (9.9 km) The winners posted were both from Kelowna, Chris Wilson - time 9:33:10 and Tammy Howe time 11:37:03. Remaining results still to come. Wendy Bentley/Spotlight
