The Southeast Fire Centre was alerted to a small wildfire in the Five Mile Creek area nine kilometres northeast of Nelson on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. “It’s in a watershed and that’s the value that is of most concern,” Radha Fisher, information officer for the Southeast Fire Centre, told the Star on Sunday. Five Mile Creek is the City of Nelson’s primary water source and is located in the West Arm Provincial Park. The current fire is located in the area of the massive Kutetl fire that burned in 2003. It is on a ridgeline north of the actual creek. Three helicopters and an air tanker were deployed on Sunday to the fire that was estimated at two
