s Kelowna grows, so does the number of vehicles on local roads and the driving public’s desire for more places to park those vehicles. So the city is turning its attention to the always controversial issue of parking and introducing a series of parking-related measures this fall. Included will be a new $30 fee for residents who live on streets where there are currently daily time-limits on parking if the residents want to park on the street in front of their homes, tougher enforcement of parking rules and even the threat of towing cars of drivers who rack up too many parking tickets. But the city is also looking to promote other forms of transportation in a bid to get people out of their cars and into public transit. Capital News assistant editor Alistair Waters looks at what the city is doing to help curb local parking problems.
