Witnesses wanted in shooting Vehicle sought in PM gangland slaying inquiry By Sarah Payne THE TRI-CITY NEWS
Police are looking for more witnesses to the brazen shooting in the parking lot of the Port Moody recreation centre last month that left a Surrey man dead. Gurbinder Singh “Bin” Toor was gunned down as he was getting out of his vehicle to play a ball hockey game at the PoMo rec centre the evening of May 30. He later died in hospital. Toor, who reportedly had ties to the Dhak/ Duhre gang, was known to the police. The Vancouver Police
Department homicide unit, which is investigating the shooting, has posted a notice at city hall asking for information on a vehicle of interest — a late-model black Nissan Murano. “Members from the Vancouver Police homicide unit went back to the scene canvassing for more witnesses,” said VPD spokesperson Const. Brian Montague. There is no licence plate infor mation for the Nissan, which Montague said is a vehicle of interest, not necessarily the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call VPD at 604-717-2500 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. spayne@tricitynews.com
Coq. OKs cop deal JANIS WARREN/THE TRI-CITY NEWS
To market, to market in PoCo Gurmeet Sandhu is the owner of Floralia at the Port Coquitlam Farmers Market, which has been operating during the summer in Leigh Square, behind city hall, since 2009, with mixed results. The final numbers are in from last year and while average attendance is up at the weekly Thursday markets, total sales are down (there are also Coquitlam Farmers Markets on Fridays and Sundays). Market organizers say it can take some time for a market to establish itself and weather also plays a role. See article on page A3.

Coquitlam is the latest municipality policed by Mounties to sign on to a new national contract with the RCMP. On Monday, council inked the 20-year deal despite reservations by some councillors about future costs for — and accountability of — the RCMP. see ‘UNDER U DURESS’, U SS , page g A6 6
