A 44-year-old man trying to defend his father was stabbed twice this week when a neighbourhood dispute got out of hand in Errington. Oceanside RCMP Corporal Jesse Foreman reported the stabbing took place at a home on Fairdowne Road in the afternoon of April 30 when the victim’s father got into a dispute with a man and woman who were also at the property. “The altercation turned into a physical fight and escalated quickly when a knife was pulled out,” Foreman said. “The victim attempted to defend his father and was stabbed in the melee.” Upon police attendance victim was being treated for two stab wounds, one to the stomach and one to the leg. Police quickly located the two suspects in the stabbing, a 35-year-old Parksville man and a 27-year-old woman from Errington. The woman was released on a promise to appear in court and the man was held in custody. Foreman said charges of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault have been recommended to the Crown. The victim was released from hospital and is currently recovering from his injuries.
