Teachers to vote on action Educators will have an ‘all or none’ decision to make in mid-April Kevin MILLS Tom FLETCHER Black Press

Abbotsford teachers could stop providing extracurricular services as soon as April 19, putting an end to all teacher-run coaching and club activities, and even jeopardize graduation ceremonies.

As part of its action plan announced on Wednesday, the B.C. Teachers’ Federation will ask its 41,000 members whether they are in favour of withholding their voluntary services and whether to grant the union’s board of directors the authority to hold a second vote (as deemed needed) on the issue of illegal strike action.

The vote is set to take place across the province on April 17 and 18. The BCTF is also planning a legal challenge of the legislation that put an end to its latest strike. With the end of spring break, Abbotsford teachers will be back on the job Monday. Continued on A5
