What is your name and where did you grow up?
Nolan Otremba. I am from Champlin, Minnesota.
What was your journey to this role? Where did you go to school? What did you study?
I have been a Technology Education teacher for 11 years. I graduated from UW-Stout with a degree in Technology & Science Education. I have always had a passion for making and building, so teaching manufacturing courses is a natural fit for me.
What do you like most about teaching at Blackhawk?
I enjoy teaching students who have a passion and are eager to learn something new.

Regarding the Rock Externship Program earlier this year, what was your reason for taking the program and do you feel you gained any new skills or ideas for the work that you do at Blackhawk?
The externship experience is a great opportunity for educators to learn about different industries and the skills necessary for people to be successful in various fields. I took this program because I always want to make sure that what I am teaching is relevant and realistic to the real world. I really enjoyed my experience and gained a lot of experience to bring back to my students.
What is your life like outside of work? Family? Community involvement? Adorable pets?
I am happily married and have a wonderful Goldendoodle named Clementine.

I am a hockey goalie and still play hockey.

With 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns, Excel can store a lot of information. But organizing and analyzing all that data can be a challenge.
