Founded in 2003, Blackbird Letterpress is a woman owned printmaking studio in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We blend traditional and contemporary practices and technology with strong design and craftsmanship. From animal shaped gift cards and handmade notebooks to volvelles and perpetual calendars, we make a wide range of letterpress printed products to delight and inspire. In the printshop, we use recycled and tree-free materials, citrus-based solvents and low VOC inks–making a small footprint with a bold impact. We look forward to working with you!

TURNAROUND: In stock items ship within 8-10 business days of order placement. We’ll ship quicker if possible.

PAYMENT: We accept major credit cards or check. Payment is due upon shipping.

SHIPPING: All orders are shipped via UPS Ground or USPS unless otherwise requested. US shipping costs: orders up to $400=$15, over $400=$20, depending on type of order. International orders pay actual shipping. All customs fees due are responsibility of buyer.

RETURNS: Only defective goods can be returned, within 5 days of receipt.

PLEASE NOTE: Because all Blackbird Letterpress goods are printed by hand, products may vary slightly. The impression you see in our paper goods will vary depending on the paper and type of relief image we use. A linocut leaves less impression than a photopolymer plate, for example. While we enjoy the texture that debossing creates, we will not exceed the ability of our press or compromise our type or print blocks to make a deeper impression than good printing demands. In everything we print, we strive to maintain high quality and strong design.

ECO COMMITMENT: We are committed to decreasing our footprint on the planet. We use low VOC inks, citrus solvents for clean-up, and recycled and tree-free, non-chlorine bleached papers.

BLACKBIRD CUSTOM NOTEBOOKS

CUSTOM NOTEBOOK INFO:

• Minimum order: quantity of 25, prices vary per each depending on quantity.

• Set up fee: starts at $100 (one time only fee), not charged for reprint of same design.

• Design fee: starts at $75/hour. No fee added if design is submitted in press ready format.

• Additional plate fee added if design is larger than 35 square inches (5”x7”).

• Turnaround time: 3-4 weeks once design is approved. Higher quantities need longer turnaround.

• Prices above are for notebook covers, letterpress printed in one color only. 2nd color is additional cost.

• Printed design can be extended over the whole cover, front and back.

• Interior pages are blank, only. All paper used is recycled, whenever possible.

• Each notebook has two rounded corners

• Clear sleeve packaging is available

• Notebooks are for marketing/promotional purposes or for resale only in a client’s retail shop. We do not produce notebooks to be sold on the wholesale market.

• We reserve the right to refuse jobs, mostly based on our schedule.

• “blackbird letterpress” will be printed on the back in small type.
