2023-2024 AD BOOK and SUPPORT
OPPORTUNITIES
Dear friends, family alumni, and members of the community,
Thank you for you expressing interested in purchasing an ad to go in the playbill for the upcoming production! Before you commit to buying an ad, listed below are some frequently asked questions to better inform you about Black Anthology the playbill ad process!
What is Black Anthology?
Black Anthology is an annual student-run theater production that highlights critical issues in the Black community through the performing arts. Through our works, we hope to inspire meaningful dialogue with and among our audiences. Past shows have varied from true anthologies with central themes, to plays written by well- known African American playwrights, to shows such as this year’s production which was written, produced, and directed entirely by students at Washington University.
When I buy an ad, where does the money go?
Black Anthology is a Student Union (SU) recognized group and even though the group receives an allocated amount of funding in their budget from SU, there are annual costs that can’t be paid with SU funds. Money collected from ad sales are used to pay for items that can’t be purchased with student union funds. These costs include playbill printing, help fund the merchandise that will be sold at shows, as well as the cost of donations to our philanthropy partner
Who would be a good candidate to buy an ad in the playbill?
• Family members, loved ones, and friends of the cast and crew. Show your support to the current Black Anthology team by buying a dedicated ad to express how proud you are of all the hard work they have put in for the past few months.
• Black Anthology alumni. The participation of former members of Black Anthology is an important part of our legacy. Even though you are no longer students at Washington University, purchasing an ad is an amazing way to continuously support Black Anthology and ensuring it has the funds to continue building on the legacy you created.
• Washington University based organizations. Black Anthology’s shows attract large amounts of students attendees. Whether you are a Washington University club or department, buying an ad is an innovative way to take advantage of the unique advertising opportunity to share your information that would be of high interest to students.
• Local St. Louis based businesses and organizations. As Black Anthology shows address issues that are faced by the St. Louis community, our shows tend to draw in a high amount of community members. Buying an ad can be a great way to amplify your services and/or causes and garner more attention to them. Especially since many students attend our shows, buying a spot in our playbill is a unique way to advertise your organization to this specific demographic.
