The festival includes thematical screenings, retrospectives, and many other activities such as interviews, discussions, workshops, and panels. ADANA GOLDEN BOLL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL September 2020 Adana Adana Golden Boll International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious and long-established film festivals in Turkey. It was inspired by the legendary director Yilmaz Guney, the winner of Golden Palm for Yol (1982), at the wake of a new era which marked a divergence from the traditional cinema towards a political consciousness. Ever since its reestablishment in 2005, Adana Golden Boll Film Festival gained an international status. The festival kept on developing, continually enriching and widening its program with various sidebar events. 70.000 admissions are recorded every year. Currently the festival includes a non-competitive international selection and a wide program composed of classics and recent Turkish productions alongside the National Competition of Feature Films.

ANTALYA GOLDEN ORANGE FILM FESTIVAL 3 – 10 October 2020 Antalya Antalya is a world city, attracting 16 million tourists annually, but the greatest source of pride is the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, celebrating its 57th edition this year. ISTANBUL FILM FESTIVAL 10 - 21 April 2020 Istanbul The largest and most influential international film event in Turkey, the Istanbul Film Festival will celebrate its 39th edition in 2019. With an audience of 105,000 and more than 600 accredited guests (2019), the Festival screens 160 feature films; comprising a competitive Turkish productions showcase, an international fiction and a human rights competition. BOSPHORUS FILM FESTIVAL 23 - 30 October 2020 İstanbul Istanbul based Bosphorus Film Festival is one of Turkey’s fastest growing festival. AKBANK SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 16 - 26 March 2020 Istanbul In addition to the national and international short film competitions, the festival includes various workshops, interviews and master classes and thus acts as an experience-sharing platform between cinema professionals and festivalgoers. Akbank Short Festival, which takes place in Akbank Sanat every year for ten days, is free of charge for all the events. The festival is composed of “Festival Shorts,” “World Shorts,” “Short to Feature,” “Experiences,” “Documentary Film,” “Perspective,” “Special Screening” and “Forum” sections. Films that have competed at world’s leading film festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice are presented to audiences every year. INTERNATIONAL FLYING BROOM WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL 7 - 14 May 2020 Ankara Turkey’s first women’s film festival “International Flying Broom Women’s Film Festival” will be organised on 7-14 May for the 23rd time. This year the theme of the festival is “Nature”. Flying Broom is the only women’s festival with FIPRESCI jury in the world. It screens only films by female directors to encourage women in cinema and strengthen them. This year, along with the festival, there will be side events where the participants can discuss environmental problems and ecofeminism.

FILMEKIMI 9 - 18 October 2020 Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir and further cities Established in 2002, and managed by the Istanbul Film Festival team, Filmekimi was conceived as a compact film festival that takes place in October, heralding the new, upcoming cinema season in Turkey. The Filmekimi “autumn film festival” programme typically includes 50 awarded films shown at recent international film festivals. Since 2011, Filmekimi extends beyond Istanbul and presents a selection of films at other cities. A total audience of 63,000 was attained in 2019 in Istanbul, and a further 9,000 in other cities.
