The recent e-commerce trends are powering online retail. The e-commerce industry is forever dynamic and embracing new changes to make the industry better. One of the best trends in e-commerce is augmented reality. Augmented Reality, or AR, has changed the entire concept of online shopping. AR is a total game changer in the world of e-commerce, and shoppers benefit from this high-end technology. AR has significantly contributed to changing shopping trends in the fashion and lifestyle industry.

Popular statistics say that more than 100 million consumers are shopping using AR. Right now, the leading business houses are using AR. Still, in the next few years, many more business houses will adapt to this technology, making the shopping experience better and more reliable. AR has yet to become a part of mainstream business, but soon it will become a part of mainstream e-commerce. Shoppers have become wise; now they know exactly what, how, and when they want it. With greater enforcement of technology, it gets easier to shop. Savvy shoppers can now distinguish well between what is truly beneficial for them and what is not. SUMMARY OF WORLD FOOTBALL CUP 2022 (QATAR)

VENUE:

The 2022 FIFA World Cup final was a football game that marked the conclusion of the tournament, which was the 22nd iteration of FIFA's tournament for men's national football teams.

On December 18, 2022, the game was played in Lusail Stadium which is located in Lusail, Qatar. Argentina won its third World Cup title by defeating France 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw that featured two goals from the 35-year-old Messi and a hat trick from France forward Kylian Mbappé in undoubtedly the most unpredictable final in the 92-year history of the competition.

BEFORE THE MATCH

On December 15, 2022, Polish officials Pawe Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz were named as assistant referees, and Szymon Marciniak was chosen as the official referee for the final. Prior to his 2011 appointment as a FIFA official, Marciniak worked as a referee at the UEFA Euro 2016 and 2018 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2018 UEFA Super Cup. Marciniak presided over the match between Argentina and Australia in the round of 16, as well as the encounter between France and Denmark at the group round of the competition. The 1990 FIFA World Cup Final saw Micha Listkiewicz, the father of Marciniak's helper Tomasz, serve as a linesman. This was the first time a Polish referee served as the team captain during a World Cup final and the second time a Polish referee was among the officials during such a match. American officials Ismail Elfath and Kathryn Nesbitt were chosen to serve as the fourth official and reserve assistant referee, respectively, while Tomasz Kwiatkowski, a Pole, oversaw the team of video assistant referees. Juan Soto of Venezuela served as the assistant video assistant referee, Kyle Atkins of the United States served as the offside video assistant referee, and Fernando Guerrero of Mexico served as the support video assistant referee. As the stand-by visual assistant referee and stand-by assistant visual assistant referee, respectively, it was the German Bastian Dankert and the American Corey Parker. Recep Tayyip Erdoan, the president of Turkey, and Emmanuel Macron, the leader

of France. Additionally present were other FIFA Council members and Gianni Infantino, who serves as the organization's president. Alberto Fernández, the president of Argentina, reportedly declined to visit Qatar because of possible political fallout. As a result, he did not go. The national anthem of Argentina was sung by Argentine musician Lali Espósito. The French National Anthem was sung prior to the game by Egyptian mezzo-soprano Farrah Eldibany.

MATCH TIME:

At 18:00 local time (15:00 UTC), France kicked off the game in front of an audience of 88,966 spectators. When Ousmane Dembélé fouled Angel Di Mara in the penalty area as he dribbled in from the left in the 23rd minute, Argentina was given a penalty. With a low strike into the right corner, Lionel Messi converted the penalty. Following a ball from Alexis Mac Allister on the right in the 36th minute, Di Maria increased the score to 2-0 by finishing with his left foot over the goalkeeper to the right corner of the net.

In the first half, there were two substitutions made for France and trailed 0-2 at the break. Randal Kolo Muani was hauled down in the penalty area by Nicolás Otamendi, and France was subsequently given a penalty after waiting until after the 79th minute to attempt a goal. The penalty was scored by Kylian Mbappé in the low left corner. Marcus Thuram's return pass over the top set him up for his second goal, which he scored two minutes later to tie the score at 2-2 with a right foot volley into the right corner of the goal. The game went into extra time with the scores tied. Following Hugo Lloris' stop on a shot from Lautaro Martnez on the right, Messi

scored once more for Argentina in the second overtime period. He raced to the net from close range. After his powerful shot struck Gonzalo Montiel in the arm, Mbappé was given a second opportunity in the 118th minute. Mbappé scored his third goal, and became the second player to score a hat-trick in a men's World Cup final following Geoff Hurst for England in 1966, with a shot to the left that fooled the goalie. With the score level at 3-3 and Kolo Muani's late low attempt blocked by Emiliano Martnez, the game was settled by a penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Mbappé and Messi converted the first two of their tries, but Argentina goalkeeper Martnez stopped Kingsley Coman's shot low to his right. Argentina now leads 2-1 thanks to a goal from Paulo Dybala that went in the middle of the goal. After Leandro Paredes scored, Aurélien Tchouaméni missed the goal with his shot to the left, putting France in danger of losing. During his opportunity, Kolo Muani kept France in the game, giving Montiel a chance to compensate for his late handball by giving Argentina the championship. Argentina won the World Cup for the third time and first time since 1986 when Montiel scored a low, left-side goal. With the exception of substitutes made during halftime, just before extra time began, and during halftime of extra time, each team was permitted just three chances to make replacements, with a fourth chance during extra time. Although France's goalkeeper Emiliano Martnez did not actually foul any of their players, the fact that the referee gave him a yellow card for acting in an unsportsmanlike manner nevertheless counts as a foul.

RULES:

1. 90 minutes.

2. Plus 30 additional minutes if needed.

3. a penalty shootout if the scores are still tied.

4. Maximum of fifteen named replacements.

5. A Maximum of five substitutes, with a sixth permitted during overtime.

6. Concussion substitutions are limited to one.

PENALTY TIME:

Messi and Mbappé both converted their first penalties for their respective teams. Emi Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina, stopped a shot from Kingsley Coman, and when Aurelien Tchouameni missed for France, Gonzalo Montiel had the chance to put the game to an end. He successfully converted the penalty to the left, setting up frenzied celebrations.

AFTER THE MATCH SCENE:

Once their team triumphed in the World Cup, there were raucous parties in the avenues of the Argentine city, Buenos Aires. While placing only behind Brazil's five titles, Italy's four, and Germany's four, Argentina won their 3rd FIFA World Cup trophy, surpassing France and Uruguay in the process. As well as becoming the first defending Copa América champions to win the World Cup, Argentina became the first South American and non-European team to do it since Brazil in 2002. Argentina lost their opening game before defeating Spain to become the second nation to win the FIFA World Cup. Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, was present at the awards ceremony on the pitch stage to give the trophy and medals to the Argentina captain Lionel Messi. Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, accompanied him along with French President Emmanuel Macron, Claudio Tapia, the president of the Argentine Football Association, Noel Le Graet, Alejandro Dominguez, the president of CONMEBOL, and Aleksander Eferin, the president of UEFA. Messi was handed a bisht (The bisht is a traditional piece of clothing, particularly in

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 7

Qatar, worn by Arab warriors after a victory in battle, and also by royals) by the Emir before the trophy ceremony, which included the Emir and Infantino presenting him with the trophy. Instead of confetti like in prior competitions, fireworks and lights were used during the trophy presentation, which had a new setting.

As the winner of the game's MVP award and the Golden Ball award for the best player in the competition, Messi made history by becoming the first person to win the honour twice. He also won the title as the best player of the tournament in 2014. Also, with second-most goals scored at the tournament, seven, he was also given the Silver Boot trophy.

With his appearance, Messi surpassed Lothar Matthäus as the World Cup player with the most appearances. With his goals, Messi joined György Sárosi of Hungary from 1938 as the only players to score in the round of 16, quarterfinals, semi-finals, and championship of a World Cup competition. Following his single goal in the first World Cup final, Mbappé's hat-trick gave him four goals overall, surpassing Hurst's three as well as those of Pelé, Vavá, and Zinedine Zidane. While Enzo Fernandez, another member of Argentina's team, earned the Young Player Award as the World Cup's top player under the age of 21, Emiliano Martnez, the finest goalkeeper in the competition, received the Golden Glove title as the best keeper of the competition.

In Argentina, there were celebrations all over the place, but especially in the capital city of Buenos Aires and in Messi's hometown of Rosario. The joy in the roads of Buenos Aires on December 20 following the arrival of the Argentina players drew a crowd that the local media pegged at over 4 million people. France saw nationwide riots in towns like Paris, Lyon, and Nice that were strikingly similar to those that occurred following their victory in 2018 and after wins over England and Morocco early in the tournament.

STORY OF AIR INDIA

In 1932, JRD Tata launched this prestigious airline under the banner of the founder's name, which is none other than J.R.D Tata himself. The first flights were domestic, and the first cities between which the flights operated were Ahmedabad, Bombay, Madras, Karachi, Pakistan, and Lahore (a reference to undivided India before independence). The immense popularity of the airlines paved the way to expand its itinerary to Trivandrum, Delhi, and Colombo in no time.

Air IndiaGlorious Past

Air India was India’s first commercial airline, founded by the great JRD Tata, who was eventually the first Indian to receive a commercial pilot’s license. Later, in 1946, Tata Airlines converted the airline into a public entity and renamed it Air India. It was in this year that the Maharajah Mascot made his first appearance. After some years, in 1953, Air India split up into international and domestic carriers. In 2005, a new journey for Air India started when it first launched a low-cost Carrier Air India in April of the same year.

After World War II, the company changed its name to Air India and became a public service entity. The government-owned a 49% stake in the Air India business. The company expanded its grip over many international

destinations in the next two years. It started to operate flights to important destinations such as Geneva, Cairo, and London. With the expansion of the itineraries of the company, the name of the company was changed to Air-India International Limited. The change of name reflected the growing steep growth curve of the company. Like most other Tata projects, it was a massive success in monetary growth and enabling people to experience the best flights.

At that time, India was one of the most celebrated countries globally for its steep success in the aviation industry. One of the best parts about the Indian airlines was that - Air India trained and employed only the natives (Indians) as pilots. In contrast, most other nations at that time had to rely upon foreign pilots to run their airlines. So, the company could make greater profits and earn respect as an indigenously operating yet internationally acclaimed aviation brand.

In 1950, for the very first time, Air India faced competition for the routes. During that period, the DC -3s had become affordable due to the war surplus. So, new airlines started to crop up, and in no time, more than 21 airline services came into existence and operation. Out of these 1 airline service was granted

access for operation in the Indian airspace. In the 90s, India was striving to boost the variation business because it was a matter of prestige, international standing, and money. At the beginning of the 1900s, Air India accounted for more than 30% of India’s air-flown cargo business. The company opted for more freighters to enhance the capacity beyond 30%. With many other modifications, the cargo revenue in the fiscal year of 1990 shot up to US $195 million, which was 21% of Air India’s revenue.

Air India - Renaissance of the Indian Aviation Industry

Air India's renaissance is happening under the able leadership of the Tata Group. The Conglomerate regained control of the airlines

earlier this year. As we know, Air India was nationalized 70 years back. The company's most significant landmark is placing orders for 500 jetliners, a cumulative value of over $100 billion (considering the list price). The orders include Airbus, Boeing, and Reuters. Tate group has announced the merging of Air India with Vistara. Vistara is a venture of Singapore Airlines, and it will conjoin itself with the most excellent airline in the country. This merged entity is expected to have 218 planes and fly to 38 international and 52 domestic destinations. Air India's timeline reflects a story of ups and downs and a massive reputation drop that the Tata group aims to restore with the current takeover.

Air India is India’s biggest flying ambassador and has served Indians with all the legacy and pride since its inauguration. The company inau-

gurated its first flight on October 15, 1932, and still holds its high position. Talking about the terrains that it covers. Air India covers flights to southern and eastern Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Canada, Australia, Africa, and the United States. The company's first headquarters was based in Mumbai and started in 1932. The company's recent valuation is approximately 14 718 crore INR approximately, and the current revenue of the company is 26 340 crores INR.

Air India covers almost every facet of Air travel and operates the best in every sphere. It aims at providing the best and most comfortable airline experience to passengers. Tata group has the most strong goodwill in the country, surpassing almost all other companies. Air India supports all the spheres of the aviation industry the airline sector, the manufacture of aircraft, research organizations, military aviation, and even more.

Air India - The Future

Like most others, the business received a setback during the COVID-19 pandemic, but fortunately, it is back with its valor now that the pandemic is over.

Ratan Tata is a prolific investor. Tata groups are undoubtedly one country's most prestigious and celebrated business groups. Every citizen prefers Tata products and services not only because of the quality excellence but because of their vision and values. The current chief of Air India is Campbell Wilson.

In 2017, the Indian Government approved the privatization of the company. Later in 2018, the government decided to sell around 76% stake in Air India. Air India aims to have a 30% share in the domestic and international markets in the next five years.

The Post Pandemic persistence of E-Commerce Industry

There is no doubt that e-commerce, including online shopping, curbside pickup, and food delivery, assisted many in surviving the pandemic. However, it's less obvious how this shift to digital commerce may develop across economies and industries as we gradually come out from under lockdowns and other limitations.

This begs the issues of how much the consumption of digital goods rose, whether the crisis worsened the digital divide or helped nations with limited e-commerce catch up, how long the move to online sales will last, and what variables account for differences between economies and sectors.

Since about the 1990s, when technology advancements began to move quickly forward and consumer giants like Amazon first debuted,

the e-commerce industry has been gaining prominence. However, data from E-Marketer shows that before the pandemic, online sales only made up 13.8 percent of all retail sales worldwide. In addition to forcing consumers to switch to online shopping when the globe was put under lockdown, merchants also had to launch or grow their online operations to preserve a connection with their target market. Online sales will account for 19.6percent of all retailing sales by the end of 2021, demonstrating the strong impact this has had on customer behavior.

Analyzing their customers' wants is the greatest way for the retailer to tackle the world of e-commerce. According to data from McKinsey, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the shift to online buying, with e-commerce expanding between

two and five times as quickly as it did before the virus arrived. Customers now have a different perception of their online buying experience as a result of this; they desire an increased level of personalization.

A social media strategy is essential to any e-commerce strategy. During the epidemic, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Business saw significant growth, and many members of the youth of today's generation now rely primarily on social media as their primary information source, including shopping tips. According to Forbes, social commerce will increase from $492 billion now to $1.2 trillion by 2025, growing at a rate three times that of traditional commerce.

Despite the removal of COVID limits in the UK, 70.6% of respondents to a study by the retail platform Unfolded,

14 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

according to Online Shopping are now less likely to buy in-store. In addition, according to a Retail Gazette estimate, 27.3 percent of UK consumers plan to permanently transfer more of their internet shopping as a result of new habits developed in the wake of the pandemic. The future of the online high street is gloomy.

Retailers need a strong business plan to make sure they stay ahead of the curve in the post-pandemic era. Retailers must determine not just the goods they want to offer online and who their target market is, but also the operational specifics, such as the payment methods that will be accepted, the delivery methods that will be employed, and the courier services that will be partnered with. This includes having a sound marketing strategy, and it's crucial to consider how to launch a company in the realm of online retail. The secret to increasing brand amplification is to analyze the items and the platforms on which to sell and promote them.

Marketplaces are a good area for smaller shops to start if they want to participate in the e-commerce industry. Internet Retailing also highlights a study by OC&C Strategy Consultants that asserts that by 2025, online marketplaces would account for 45–50 percent of the overall online expenditure, surpassing straight e-commerce in size. In addition to guiding online concerns like shipping, payment, and translation procedures, marketplaces are a fantastic opportunity to expand one's audience and sell on a global scale.

Retailers faced a new issue when high street purchasing stopped in the early months of 2020. In 2022, while businesses have returned, there is a desire for a new kind of high street: a digital one. Nearly half (49.7%) of all non-food retail sales are predicted to be made online by 2025, as per Metapack's Online store Delivery Benchmark Report 2021.

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 15

Governments throughout the world announced complete lockdowns at the start of the pandemic, leading to the shutting of physical stores everywhere. Following this, customers started shopping online, which led to an extraordinary rise in eCommerce sales. Amazon saw a 57% increase in sales during the second half of 2020. Due to the closing of physical establishments, new competitors began to enter the eCommerce market. Consequently, there was a significant rise in eCommerce merchants. The ratio of E-Commerce sales to overall retail sales increased during the pandemic as customers moved from physical stores to online retailers.

Retailers began opening their doors in physical places as the pandemic started to diminish in about June 2021. It's been forty years since inflation has been this high. One way or another, shipping and production issues have caused limited availability. On the other hand, costs have gone up at every turn, including those for labor, transportation, and the expense of acquiring new clients.

The current conflict in Ukraine is another. Over 300,000 American businesses rely on Russia or Ukraine for their supply chains.

Given that Russia is a key fuel exporter, the war has significantly contributed to rising gasoline prices, which have in turn increased transportation costs and inflation. Whereas other package carriers have increased charges by an average of 5.9 percent, Amazon has implemented a 5 percent fuel and inflation premium.

To achieve USD 4.9T in 2021, the worldwide E-Commerce market has almost tripled in the previous seven years. The global E-Commerce industry saw a 28 percent rise in 2020 after increasing at a (CAGR) Compound annual rate of growth of 20 percent from 2014 to 2019. In 2021, the annual growth is anticipated to have decreased to 14%.

The US E-Commerce market expanded annually at a rate of 42 percent from 2019 to 2020 after seeing a CAGR of 14 percent from 2014 to 2019. 2021 saw a decline in growth of 18%. The US E-Commerce markets have both reverted to their pre-pandemic growth rates after the outbreak.

Since the beginning of 2022, the growth rate of eCommerce spending has been decreasing. The increase in E-Commerce sales growth was negative in March and April. Despite a four percentage point increase in May, E-Commerce sales are still trending downward.

E-Commerce is far more advanced than it was in 2019 despite the pandemic's significant impacts on the industry. Even after the outbreak, there has been considerable traffic to the E-Commerce sites of Brands. The average rate of traffic growth in 2022 was 33%, compared to a 32% average growth in the final six months of 2021. It abruptly dropped to less than 1% in April 2022, but it then started to rise once more.

The sales of marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Walmart during the epidemic as consumers switched to ordering everything online, from skincare products to groceries to electronics. Amazon's net sales climbed by 40% in 2020, compared to Walmart's E-Commerce sales, which increased by an abnormally high 97%. Amazon was capable of maintaining growth at a similar level.

The traffic decreased after the epidemic, except for June 2021, and it turned negative slope by Aug 2021. Consumers spent less time on websites as they returned to their favorite stores, made trip arrangements, and participated in outdoor leisure activities. Domestic and international passenger load factors on US air carriers climbed by 70 percent and vehicle miles traveled increased by 32 percent in 2021.

The EY Future Consumer Index, which has polled thousands of customers since the beginning of the pandemic, discovered in early 2021 that 80% of American consumers are still altering their shopping habits. Sixty percent of consumers now purchase online more frequently than they did before the pandemic, and 43% visit brick-and-mortar establishments less frequently.

Apologizing Sincerely and Effectively

Apologising isn’t just social etiquette, it’s a hugely important human ritual thatbrings relationships together and helps people to move forward.

20 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

As humans, we all make mistakes, hurt people through our behaviour, words and actions; intentionally or unintentionally. Regardless of how the mistake happens, it’s important to know how to apologize. Admitting a mistake and then apologising for it can be nerve-racking and scary. When a mistakehappens, trust gets ruptured too. Knowing how and when to apologise can repair theruptured trust and in turn our relationships with people. Undoubtedly, it’s not easy to apologise, but it's the best way to restore trust when we've done something wrong.

A sincere and effective apology is that communicates remorse, regret and empathy along with a promise that there is a learning from the mistake/incident. A wrong or insincere apology can actually make things worse.

What Is An Apology?

An apology is a statement with following key elements.

Why Should WeApologize?

Apologies, if sincere, can help rebuild the trust and relationships with people who we have hurt. Through apologies, we open a dialogue with the other person. We can reflect and take responsibility of our actions. Apology also helps to correct our action in future, restore our integrity with others and restore their dignity while allowing them to process their hurt and feelings. We might not be forgiven straight away but the feeling that we have done the right thing is relieving and precious at the same time.

Request for forgiveness

Why Apologising Is So Hard?

Our need to protect our positive self – image that we have in our minds becomes the hinderance. Reasons why apologizing can feel hardare –

• We want to deny the hurt we causedbecause it challenges our self-image.

• Taking responsibility for one thing maylead to taking responsibility for “everything."

• We struggle to overcome our pride& guilt.

• No role model to show us how to apologise.

Why Apologising Is Important?

Not apologising, not being able to own up to our mistakes, can ruin our relationships. It can also prevent us from growing and learning from our mistakes.

By apologizing, we are able to:

• Understand and acknowledge that we were wrong

• Understand what is allowed and what is not in our relationship

• Express our regrets

• Learn from our mistakes

• Find new ways of dealing with difficult situations

• Open up a dialogue with the other person

A sincere apology can bring relief and release from our guilt. An apology can’t certainly take away the hurt but helps us in knowing which of our actions were wrong and what can be done in future to prevent it from happening again. Not apologizing can also lead to contemplation, anger, resentment, guilt and hostility that may only grow over time.

When Do We Apologize?

WHEN is as important as HOW when it comes to apology.

• The moment we suspect that we did something wrong or caused someone any discomfort or hurt, we must apologise.

• If felt, what we did to other person would have bothered us, if done to us, an apology is in order.

• In case of unsurety, no harm in apologising, it might re-establish our credibility and trust. We can decide where we stand on the apology after that.

22 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

A sincere apology can go a long way in a relationship, nevertheless, we are often unwilling or unable to do so. Admitting mistakes can be difficult and humbling.

Essentials for An Apology –

The below steps are ideal& essential when we apologise –

1 Start With ‘I’m Sorry’ – Following“I’m sorry” with “but” doesn’t work. Rationalising our actions is essentially passing the blame and sends a message that we are not realising and owning up our actions and then it makes the apology superficial. Apologies containing qualifiers or justifications negate the sincerity of an apology.

2 Keep It Brief And Simple – Apologies should be quick, simple and painless.Unnecessary explanations and justifications are uncomfortable and the essence of apology gets lost. Dwelling on what happened does not help. Ensuring that we remain focused on the learnings from the incident and assuring the wronged person that we understand what happened, its impactand will not repeat the same is the key.The key lies in being laconic rather than in being saunter.

3 Do It As Soon As Possible – We shouldn’t wait to apologize once we realise our mistake. The longer the wait, greater is the hurt. Rectify the situation before moving on.

4 Face The Awkward – Apologiesare awkward, embrace them with dignity. Many a times, they open unexpected doors. An apology is a sign of good character and earn us respect and credibility.

5 Try To Apologize In Person – While it may be difficult to face, others will respect us for taking the time to apologize in person. It’s often easier to explain in person as well. In case an in-person apologies is not possible, video/ telephonic call is the best solution.

6 State The Reasons For Apology – Reasons why we are apologising should be clearly stated, it suggests that we own it up and it expresses

lot of integrity on ourpart. We can apologise sincerely only when we know what we are apologising for. Re-living our mistakes might not be the greatest of the feeling but we must understand that the wronged person may be feeling worse. Not acknowledging their pain does not do them further justice.

7 Owning Mistakes – Expressing that we’re willing to take responsibility for our actions is crucial. We should be specific about why we are apologizing. Containing the temptation to justifyour actions is important else it can be perceived as excuses and shifting blame. It is important to recognize the difference between explanations and justifications. Unlike justifications, explanations provide some context around our actions which let others know that the incident was not intentional. Taking accountability and ownership now and also in future so that a pattern of such mistakes can be avoided is effective.

8 Choose Your Timing Correctly – Like everything else, there is a time and place for apology also. When emotions are still high, apology

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 23

can pour fuel on fire. Allow the wronged person time to process emotions and conflicts. It is advisable to have emotions in check and arguments to diffuse before we apologise. Apologies should be offered only when both parties have quiet and uninterrupted time to discuss and process what happened openly. Rushing it will lose its purpose.

9 Express Regret – Express regrets and remorse on what happened. Invest time in thinking about how to fix the problem, control the damage and put thing right. If the damage can’t be fixed, promise that it won’t happen again and keep that promise. Vocalising the corrective steps that we are going to take acts as assurance to the wronged person.

An apology makes us vulnerable, exposed and extremely uncomfortable but it helps us with a better understanding of ourselves and others. It also gives us directions to avoid the same hurtful path in future.

Benefits of An Apology

Yes, there are benefits that are by-products of a sincere apology:

• Re-Establishes Relationship Rules – An apology re-establishes that we know what the "boundaries" are and agree that they would be respected. It gives others a sense of security knowing we agree on some ground rules.

• Re-Establish Dignity For Those Got Hurt – Acknowledging that it was our fault and not theirs helps them feel better, protects their dignity and respect.

• Repair Relationships – By getting people talking again, an apology makes them feel comfortable with each other again. It also helps convey the value that you place on the relationship.

• Mends Trust – A sincere apology allows you to let people know you're not proud of what you did, and won't be repeating it. That lets people know that the mistake was a momentary lapse and not a long-term value judgment.

How To Make A Sincere And Effective Apology?

Apologies don’t come easy. They’re crucial elements to build relationships, improve communication and re-establish trust. Learning how to apologize sincerely can improve relationships

1 Acknowledge The Impact – A good apology includes expressing we’re aware of how our actions have impacted the other person. This tells them we understand why they feel hurt and their pain too. Addressing who was responsible, who got hurt and what was offending or hurtful in the event, we can work around an apology that will be well-received. Acknowledging how our behaviour has affected others, owning it up certainly win us some empathy.

24 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

2 Ask For Forgiveness – Asking for forgiveness is a way to give the wronged person authority in the situation which helps to diffuse the situation to some extent. Asking for forgiveness tells them we don’t assume we will automatically be forgiven. We must not make an apology with ulterior motives like we want to end the friction or want the situation to cool down.

3 Use Empathy – Expressing empathy goes a long way while apologising. We must see things their way, understand their hurt and put them first in the situation. Expressing that we understand how it might feel at their end and acknowledging their feelings as legitimate certainly helps us earning their trust and forgiveness.

4 Reciprocal Action – Trying to justify our actions by shifting the blame on the other person that they provoked our actions can be fatal. Pointing out other person’s fault and further demanding or expecting a reciprocal apology will undermine the apology.

5 Focus On The Impact, Not Intent – Apology should be cantered around the impact of the actions and not the intent. Focusing on WHY can also be perceived as being defensive. Most often, the person we are apologising to does not even care about the intent or incident, thus its highly important to look for remedies and concrete remedial actions at our end.

6 Make Amends – Effective apologies involve an effort to initiate remedies. To express

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 25

apologies, amends and subsequent plans are necessary which will partially cover the damages. It’s important to inform the wronged person how we are fixing the damage. We can also consider asking the person what can make things right rather than doing something that can relive our guilt but does not help the wronged.

7 Don’t Overdo It – The apology should fit the mistake, cxcessive restitutions may lead the wronged person to doubt our sincerity. An apology is meant to release the other person’s pain and not to release us of guilt. Over the top apologies and over reimbursements can look insincere and superficial as they tend to convey more of our guilt rather than acknowledging other person’s pain. Keep apologies simple and direct, overdoing it may create resentment and can erode the trust further.

8 Avoid Repeating – Resolution and reassurance to change the hurtful behaviour is crucial. Discussions around the lessons learnt from the situation and subsequent planning to rectifyis vital. It will shift the focus from mistake to a positive outcome. If we don’t

learn from our mistakes, the apology offered is just and excuse to walk away from the situation. Remember – A good apology can open, not close, doors.

9 Acknowledge Their Hurt – Express regret, tell them that we understand that they have been wronged and we acknowledge their hurt. Avoid using ‘if’ in the apology, doing so means we are trying to shift the blame. Lets not be ashamed to express our vulnerability. Express that even if the hurt was unintentional, we still understand the pain caused and that they have been wronged. It will provide some healing to the wronged.

10 Apologise For Right Reasons – We shouldn’t apologise to get an apology in return or to reduce our guilt. Apology should be made to clear our conscience, to provide peace to the soul, for self and for others. In situations where we deserve the apology and the other person does not apologise, understand, in long run, it will hurt the other person more than it hurts us. This understanding will help us to move forward peacefully.

26 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

11 Acknowledge Our Feelings – Identifying the facts, the hurt, our intentions, their perceptions, contributions on each sides will help us understand the effect on the other person and will help us to create our effective apologies.Band-aiding asituation by apologising will appear as forced and ungenuine which can be easily sensed by others. We then, will be met with resistance which may force us to be defensive which perhaps will cause more damage to the situation.

12 Allow Them To Express – Allowing the wronged person toshare their hurt and feelings openly will allow the healing to happen quickly. It also helps us to understand the situation from their point of view and also to understand any misses on our part. This will take away our own limitations in understanding others and will also take away statements like “ You never understand me” or “you still don’t get the point”. Inviting people to share how the incident has impacted them will bring in more positivity in the relationship which is exactly the opposite of what we expect when we apologise; we normally assume now they will hit us back.

13 Reaffirm Boundaries – One of the best reasons to apologize is to reaffirm boundaries. Conflict means violation of boundaries or broken trust. An apology helps to ascertain what kind of future behaviour is expected/preferred. Through apology, we can set clear expectations to rebuild trust, boundaries, and positive feelings.

When learning how to apologize effectively, it’s important to understand the value of apology and taking the ownership of it.

What Should We Avoid When We Apologise?

Apologizing is important, but apologizing wrongly or at the wrong time, can be worse than maintaining silence. Some key things to avoid, especially in workplace –

1 Apologizing Too Much – Apologising for every small thing is not a smart way of acting as then our apology will lose its value and essence. It will also give a different impression about us to others.

2 TakingThe Entire Blame – While an apology helps us to take the responsibility of the conflict, entire conflict might not be our responsibility. When we admit fault for the entire conflict, few issues can erupt –

• We will be taking extra blame if we take accountability for the entire conflict.

• It will difficult then, for others to apologise for their part in the conflict.

Over-apologizing isn’t beneficial, accepting all the blame if it isn't all our fault is not much help.

3 Offering Apologies That Go Unrecognized –An appropriate apology which is not well received, can be a confidence killer. If our

apologies either fall on deaf ears or if we do not receive them when we should, perhaps we must question about our fitment in a relationship. Continuing to make apologies which are not given respect is not healthy.

4 Not Accepting Constructive Criticism – When we are suggested/advised how to do things differently to bring in good results should be accepted in a positive way. We should be in acceptance of the constructive feedback or a feedforward provided. Instead of getting defensive and getting into explanations, required from us then is to act on the advicereceived.

5 Not Taking Corrective Action – If the situation merits an apology, we must immediately put actions to our words. Apology should be followed with a concrete action plan so that our apology doesn’t ring hollow and we can rebuild any trust lost.

28 | January 2023, ISSUE 31

Remember – Sincere Apologies May Take Time

The very purpose of an apology is to help the wronged feel heard & understood, their pain and hurt expressed. We must keep in mind that the wronged might not be ready to forgive us yet, thus we must give them time to heal. We must allow them time to process their hurt, deal with their emotion, heal properly till they are ready to forgive. We mustn’t force an apology and demand forgiveness. Respect the decision if the other person does not want to repair the relationship. Forcing it will spoil it further, they may be on guard forever. Sincere apologies take time, the greater the hurt, more time would be required for it to be processed.Apology is not a matter of right, forgiveness is a gift, one we don’t deserve. Let go of any resentment and anger and accept that we can’t control their response.

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 29

The Perfect Recipe – Bottom Line

An apology recipe must look like –

1. Taking responsibility for the mistake.

2. Acknowledgment that we did hurt other(s). 3. Validating feelings. 4. Expressing remorse. 5. Explicitly expressing our desire for remedial actions. 6. Putting an action plan to mend any relationship ruptures.

Final Thoughts

Genuine and sincere apologies aren’t always easy but with empathy and some courage, one can work around making them effective. An apology might begin with words, but it doesn’t end with them. We must live our apology by working on re-establishing trust and reaffirming boundaries which in turn will earn us forgiveness.

Apologies require taking full responsibility. No half-truths, no partial admissions, no rationalisations, no finger pointing and no justifications belong in any apology.

Top 5 MOST SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSES of 2022

Some people enter the world of entrepreneurship with a clear goal in mind; they are aware of the market they want to dominate and the strategy they will use to get there. But for many aspiring business owners, it can be challenging to find out how to launch a company and to decide precisely which industry to invest in.

We've put together a list of the most profitable companies to get you started, taking into account things like industry growth and competitiveness, start-up costs and entry barriers, as well as profitability potential.

1. MANUFACTURING SECTOR:

According to recent research from Interact Analysis, global manufacturing output will be slow this year, expected with a 3.9 percentage of development in 2022 growth as an outcome of an unusually wide range of economic pressures, which includes inflation and the battle in Ukraine. Europe will be especially slow, with manufacturing growth projected to be 3.7 percent, 7 percent lower than the 11.4 percent figure for 2021. The forecast for manufacturing machinery is far less hopeful than in the prior month, with eight of the top ten sectors having their forecast for 2022 revised downward. Electronics and semiconductor manufacturing heavy equipment bucked the trend, with 6.2% growth expected this year. Moreover, this growth is unlikely to be stable in the semiconductor market, and a significant downturn is a forecast for 2023. Japan is the largest individual vendor of semiconductor and electrical machines and equipment, budgeting for 30 percentof the entire sales, with China accounting for 23 percent,

the United States accounting for 10 percent, and the Netherlands accounting for 7 percent. Machine tools are one of the machinery sectors with a promising outlook for 2022. Machine tools are a small subset of the larger machines and equipment market, but it is critical in a number of the biggest manufacturing sectors, including automotive and metals. Machine tools are expected to grow by 5 percent this year, with solid continued growth expected until 2026.As reported by the Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Traders, many United Kingdom industries are struggling, particularly automotive, where registrations of new cars were down 15% in April due to parts shortages.

On the whole, the United Kingdom is predicted to increase manufacturing output by 2% in 2022. Italy is expected to achieve 3% growth in the year 2022 and, even though its bad performance this season, to continue growing until 2026. The second quarter in Italian textiles was particularly strong, with 10.2 percent growth overall and 25 percent development in textile manufacturing.

2. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE:

Rapid technology projects, an increase in internet penetration, and developments in total internet technology have resulted in the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence in mainline operational processes. The global Artificial Intelligence market was nearly a billion U.S. dollars 59.67 in 2021 and is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 39.4 percent to around billion U.S. dollars 422.37 billion by 2028. As per Worldwide Data Corporation, the Artificial intelligence-based market in India is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 20.2 percent to $ 7.8 billion by 2025, up from $ 3.1 billion in 2020. To expand its artificial intelligence (AI) business, Intel Corporation purchased Cnvrg. io, an Israeli start-up that creates and runs a platform for data scientists to create and run

machine learning models. But even while software technology is always been crucial to many businesses, AI has elevated technology to the top of the organizational hierarchy. For instance, Cadbury launched a program in Jan 2022 that allowed small company owners to produce their advertisements for free utilizing the voice and face of celebrities with the aid of an AI tool. By 2030, however, it is projected that the healthcare industry would take the lead. The healthcare market has been divided accordingly to use cases, including automation operation, dosage-reduced errors, digital nursing assistants, clinical trial participant identification, hospital workflow monitoring, preliminary diagnosis, and automated image diagnostic. Risk evaluation, investment/portfolio management solicitations, and financial analysis are all part of the BFSI market.

3. DATA SCIENCE AND ANALYTICS:

Even though it can be challenging to determine the precise number of unfilled data science and analytics roles for a specific month, an investigation by AIM Research found that there were about 179,470 open positions available at the moment of publishing in the second week of April 2022. In India, this is the second-highest number of data science and analytics jobs posted since AIM Research started recording these numbers in April 2015. 180,468 was the highest ever recorded in February 2022. Instead of the total number of new jobs generated each month, these open positions there in the data science and analytics sector can be filled at any moment. The job growth for professionals in analytics and data science fell by much more than 20.1 percent during the initial phase of Covid-19 from Mar 2020 to Jun 2020, although it has since significantly recovered. Between the beginning of Covid-19 in March 2020 and Apr 2022, there is a 73.5 percent increase in the number of available positions. During the second wave, there was a minor decrease in the number of open positions by 3.8 percent between Apr and May 2021. It has since started to climb once more. There was 30.1 percent more open positions in April 2022 for data science and analytics than there were in April 2021. 11.6 percent of the world's open data science and analytics employment in 2022 came from India. This is a significant increase from the 9.4 percent of available positions globally in June 2021. The Multinational IT Companies & Business process outsourcing organizations and Captives, such as Accenture, Microsoft India, Shell, Flipkartand Services, Dell International, Capgemini, Wells Fargo, United Health Group, and JP Morgan,

make up the majority of the top 10 organizations with the most analytics positions offered in April 2022. The hiring market for data science/analytics professionals in India is expanding as evidenced by the fact that 98.6% of the jobs listed for this field are full-time. Only 1.4% of the occupations, in comparison, are temporary, part-time, or internship positions. The absolute number of available positions with salaries between 25 and 50 lakhs increased by the most among all ranges, at 3,585 in 2021 over 18,775 in 2022. Because of this, the proportion of this employment in the overall workforce rose from 2.6 percent in 2021 to 10.5 percent in 2022. The percentage of open positions paying between 15 and 25 lakhs climbed from 12.2 percent in 2021 to 17.3 percent in 2022.

4. BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOMEDICAL:

With a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.6 percent, the global market for biotechnology services increased from $129.14 billion in 2021 to $149.31 billion in 2022. At least temporarily, the Russia-Ukraine conflict hampered the possibilities of a COVID-19 pandemic-related global economic rebound. Economic sanctions on several nations, a rise in stock prices, and disruptions in the supply chain as a result of the conflict between these two nations have all had an impact on numerous markets around the world. At a CAGR of 11.7 percent, the market for biotechnology services is projected to reach $232.45 billion in 2026. The Indian biotechnology market was valued at 64 billion US dollars

in 2019, and the Indian Economic Survey 2021, projects that it would reach 150 billion US dollars by 2025. The most traded biopharmaceutical companies in the world spent $55.0 billion on R&D globally between 2020 and 2022, an increase of 13.7 percent annually from $4.8 billion in 2001. Consequently, it is anticipated that the increasing prevalence of diseases and significant R&D expenditures will aid in the expansion of the market for biotechnology services. The market for biotechnology services is anticipated to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 17.0% from $129.14 billion in 2021 to $151.10 billion in 2022. A CAGR of 15.3 percent is anticipated to bring the market to $267.29 billion in 2026.

5. MENTAL HEALTH:

The global market for mental health was worth US$ 402.4 billion. The publication projects that the market will hit US$ 493.8 billion by 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 3.57 percent between 2022 and 2027. The frequency of mental health illnesses is currently rising on a global scale. One of the main elements bolstering the market's growth is this, along with factors like lifestyle, substance misuse, traumatic personal experiences, and biological aspects like inheritance or brain chemistry. In addition to this, the COVID - 19 (coronavirus) outbreak and lockdown limitations

ISSUE 31, January 2023 | 37

imposed by various governments across the world have damaged people's pre-existing mental health symptoms and brought on relapses in people all over the world. This is a factor in the market's expansion, combined with the increased need for hospital services brought on by the expanding patient base in need of mental health remedies to encourage self-care. Additionally, government organizations in various nations are hiring more mental health practitioners and spending on digital and telecommunications technologies. A positive market outlook is being produced by this along with a significant rise in the number of programs raising awareness about mental health. The market is expected to increase as a result of several other important factors, such as the expanding elderly population, rising occurrences of depression that result in disability, and improved healthcare infrastructure.
