Market Details

Strawberries:
USA: Production constraints are expected to last through the beginning of November as California recovers from heavy rains and heat. Prices will remain elevated. We are seeing dark color and bruising due to conditions.

Blueberries:
SOUTH AMERICA: South American production is in full swing. Prices are coming down slightly. Quality has been good overall.

Raspberries:
MEX/USA: Rain in Mexico has hindered production, thus causing prices to elevate. Quality has been good overall.
Blackberries:
MEX/USA: Rain in Mexico has hindered production, thus causing prices to elevate. Quality has been good overall.
Cantaloupe:
USA: Much lower yields than projected are being realized in the Yuma region. This is being attributed to some inclement weather that was seen in early September that caused bloom drop leading to fewer Melons being harvested. This not only impacts current harvests, but is now anticipated the Fall season could finish 7-10 days earlier than anticipated. Import arrivals have started from some shipper’s, but Classic Fruit (our main supplier) will have first arrivals from Guatemala the week of Nov 10.
Honeydew:
USA/MEX: Increased crossings through Nogales have started to offer relief. Sizing on the Mexican fruit is also peaking on the 5 ct./Jumbo 5 ct. currently. Over the next couple of weeks, quality from the Desert should be lowered as we move through a historically challenging time because of conditions until we get into offshore fruit.
Watermelon:
USA/MEX: We will be transitioning this week from Domestic to Mexican fruit. Markets look to come off some as we make this transition.

Avocados:
MEX: We are seeing plentiful supply and good quality.
Grapes:
Green Grapes: USA: The Green Grape market is up with recent rains and supplies are tightening up. Good quality.
Red Grapes: USA: The Red Grape market supplies are good, but the market is up due to recent rains. Good quality.
Black Grapes: USA: This market is also up due to recent rains. Good quality.
Lunch Bunch Grapes: USA: This market is steady with good supplies.

Grapefruit:
TEX/FLA: Mostly steady to slightly lower markets as we have transitioned into Texas/Florida supplies.

Oranges:
CA: Lower markets as the Navel season is now underway. We will be transitioning from Valencias to Navels this week. We will see sugars/color improve as the Navel season progresses.
Kiwi:
USA: We are into the Domestic season. Good supplies and good quality.
Limes:
MEX: Mostly steady to lower markets as supplies have improved. Medium/large-sized fruit is now peaking, as small sizes will be limited in supply moving forward for the remainder of the current production cycle. We are still seeing conditional defects in the form of stylar-end breakdown, due to the wet growing conditions which typically appears in transit.

Lemons:
CA/CHILE: Steady supplies, quality good to excellent, and the market is mostly steady. Production is increasing out of District #3 and peaking on 140 ct./165 ct. size range.

Bartlett/Anjou: WA: We will be transitioning from Bartletts to Anjou variety this week.
Red: WA: Good supplies.

MEX/USA: Product is coming in from both Mexico and Georgia. Prices are steady, to higher. The quality has been good.
Green Beans:
USA: Beans are coming in from Georgia now, and quality has been very nice. The prices are steady for now. Clipped French Beans 10/2 lbs. supplies are tight from Guatemala.
Peas:
PERU/GUATEMALA: Supplies are very tight with the 10 lbs. Pea Pods from Guatemala. Heavy rains in the growing area are causing most of the issues now. Product from Peru is hitting a gap. Prices are high!

Peppers:
MEX/USA: We are bringing in Green Peppers from California and Georgia, with very good quality. Red and Yellow Pepper supplies are steady, and prices are on the rise. The quality has been good even after the rainy weather in the growing regions.

Lettuce/Romaine:
Head Lettuce: It appears we have hit the ceiling on this market. Yuma is 1-2 weeks away depending on the grower. There is just no way to sustain this market at its current level once supplies get better. Quality remains fair. Romaine: Romaine is a bit harder to come by than Iceberg right now. Prices are very high, and quality is just fair. We should see relief soon.
Green & Red Leaf: Supplies are a bit strained. Prices have moved up. Quality is fair.
Boston: Supplies are strained and prices have moved up.
Pineapple:
COSTA RICA: The Pineapple market is back up. Crownless fruit is still tight, but availability has improved. Tariffs remain in effect. Quality is good.

Potatoes:
Idaho Russets: USA: Idaho Russet markets have leveled off. We are into new crop.
Red and Yellow Potatoes: Markets are steady. We are stocking the Minnesota Reds and Yellows from the Red River Valley. Good quality.
Onions:
USA: New crop Idaho and Washington Onions. Quality looks good with great supplies.
Squash:
USA: Supplies have become very short for Zucchini in Georgia and Mexico as most all local growers have finished for the season. All of the demand has been switching to those areas. Prices are way up!
Asparagus:
PERU: Prices are starting to back off a bit as Peru gets into better supplies. Better sizing on the larger Asparagus has also been showing up this last week as well. Prices should continue to slide down for the next few weeks.

Brussels Sprouts:
Supplies are getting better and we should see prices start to ease off their high. Growers are in much better shape after holding back some harvests for the last few weeks.
Broccoli:
Supplies are improving. Prices are backing off and quality should be getting a lot better. We are through the worst of it on Broccoli.

Cauliflower:
Supplies are still a bit strained. Quality is only fair right now.

Supplies are slightly reduced this week, elevating prices a bit. Quality is good.
Green Onions:
Markets are stable, and quality is good.
Broccolini/Sweet Baby Broccoli:
Most growers are struggling with supplies on Broccolini/ Sweet Baby Broccoli. Quality is solid.

Tender Leaf:
Spring Mix: Quality is a bit tough right now on most of the Spring Mix packs. We are seeing some early breakdown and monitoring lots in the warehouse.
Arugula: Supplies are challenging. “Flat” Baby Arugula is almost non-existent. We are trying to get as much Wild as we can on each truck we load.
Organic Baby Spinach: Supplies are just fine.
Organic Baby Wild Arugula: Supplies are spotty and we are subbing to conventional Wild Arugula half the time.
Tomatoes:
Round Tomatoes: Market is level, and supplies are good. Quality is OK to good.
Roma Tomatoes: Market is on the rise. The price is going up. The product looks good.
Grape Tomatoes: Market is stable, and very likely to stay there for now. The quality is good.
