Simon Meredith Head of School
This year’s yearbook marks another inspiring chapter in the BISP story. As we reflect on the 2024-2025 academic year, a powerful theme stands out: growth and innovation.
This year, our school community has grown stronger and more vibrant than ever. We welcomed new students and families from across the world, further enriching our diverse international community. The bonds between our students, staff, and parents continue to foster an environment where intercultural learning and mutual understanding flourish — values that are at the very heart of BISP.
One of the most significant milestones this year was the opening of the BISP Innovation Hub. This dynamic new space embodies our commitment to forwardthinking education, providing opportunities for students to collaborate, create, and push the boundaries of their learning. It represents not just a physical transformation of our campus, but a bold step towards the future, embracing innovation while staying true to the principles that have always guided us.
Our students, as always, have been the source of great pride and inspiration. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, on stage, or in service to others, they have demonstrated resilience, creativity, and a spirit of excellence. They continue to show us what it means to learn, lead, and live with purpose.
None of this would be possible without the incredible commitment of our teachers, staff, and supportive parents. It is through their hard work and dedication that we continue to nurture an environment where every student can thrive.
To the Class of 2025, congratulations on all you have achieved. As you leave BISP, you carry with you the knowledge, friendships, and experiences that will serve you well in all that lies ahead. We are confident that you will continue to lead lives of impact and meaning.
Finally, a sincere thank you to the yearbook team for capturing the spirit of this remarkable year. This yearbook will serve as a lasting reminder of a community that continues to grow, innovate, and inspire.
As we look to the future, we do so with excitement and optimism. At BISP, we remain steadfast in our commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, innovation, and global citizenship. Together, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
Suwinai Viponchai School Director
As we reflect on another remarkable year at British International School, Phuket, I am filled with pride and gratitude. This year, we have achieved significant milestones, including the successful accreditation by Thai authorities through ONESQA for external assurance, as well as continued oversight by CIS and NEASC. These achievements reaffirm our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring that BISP remains a leader in international education. My sincere appreciation goes to everyone who played a role in this process—your dedication has made this success possible.
To our graduating students—congratulations! Your hard work, resilience, and achievements have brought you to this important milestone. As you step into the next chapter of your lives, I encourage you to carry forward the values, friendships, and experiences you have gained at BISP. You will always be part of our school family.
To the members of staff who are moving on to new opportunities, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your contributions to BISP. Your dedication has left a lasting impact, and we wish you success in all your future endeavors.
A special thank you to our Thai teachers and Thai staff, whose unwavering commitment and hard work continue to support the growth of the school. Your efforts ensure that BISP remains a place of learning, cultural richness, and community.
As we look ahead to the next academic year, let us continue striving for excellence, embracing challenges, and supporting one another as a school community.
Wishing everyone a successful and fulfilling journey ahead.
Susan Walter Principal, Primary School
Our BISP Yearbook 2024-25 is a showcase of the children’s many achievements this year and a true celebration of the rich and diverse learning opportunities the children have enjoyed. The coming pages are full of fantastic learning experiences and the exciting adventures the children have had at school over this academic year.
Selecting highlights from the year has been a challenge, but as always, there are some standout moments. We all enjoyed the Christmas Grotto organised by members of our Parent Teacher Association, and celebrating the rich diversity of our school community through events like International Day, and through the Thai celebrations of Wai Kru, Loy Krathong and Songkran.
Academic outcomes and progress in learning continue to go from strength to strengths. We sent 2 teams of students to the FOBISIA Primary Maths Competition in Vietnam in March, and supported large numbers of students competing in challenging local and international maths competitions this year, and achieving at an extremely high standard.
Children across the school have had the opportunity to showcase their athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a variety of events this year during our annual Sports Days, Cross Country, and Swimming Gala events. For the first time in a few years, we were excited to see 40 of our Primary students take part in the Primary FOBISIA Games in Bangkok.
The creative arts also played an important role in learning across the curriculum, through the ECA programme and through our peripatetic music teaching programme. The Year 2 children put on an incredible art gallery showcasing their art, with children from all the other year groups taking part in various performances during World Theatre Week and the Celebration of Music Week, as well as the programme of lunchtime concerts which were again a huge success.
We love providing opportunities for active and exciting learning, and I urge you to spend time going through the 2024-25 Yearbook with your child and sharing their special moments and favourite memories.
Tim Pearson Principal, Secondary School
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
As I reflect on this extraordinary year, I am filled with gratitude and pride. Having been part of this incredible school community for 14 years, stepping into the role of Secondary Principal has been both an honor and a privilege. This school has been my professional home for over a decade, but this year holds even greater personal significance—as I watch my own son graduate, marking the culmination of 14 wonderful years of memories for our family.
Our students continue to inspire with their resilience, ambition, and unwavering dedication. Whether in the classroom, on the stage, on the field, or in service to others, you have demonstrated the values and excellence that define our school. To our graduates, this moment marks both an ending and a beginning. As you step into the next chapter of your journey, carry forward the friendships, and lessons you have gained here. Your future is bright, and I have no doubt you will leave a lasting impact wherever you go.
To our Teachers and staff—your passion and commitment shape the lives of our students every day. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and I thank you for your unwavering dedication. To the parents and families, your support and partnership have been invaluable in making this year a success.
As we close this chapter and look ahead, let’s continue to build BISP where every student feels valued, challenged, and cared for. It has been a joy to share in the journey of this graduating class, both as a Teacher and as a father and I am excited for what the future holds for all of us.
Wishing you a wonderful summer and I look forward to what will be undoubtedly another exciting year at BISP next year.
Ember Hewison Head student
Serving as Head Student has been a rewarding and enriching experience. I’ve learned so much, not just about leadership, but about patience, teamwork, and the power of community. I was lucky enough to work alongside an incredible team of fellow students, supported every step of the way by people who truly cared about our vision and our voices.
From the very beginning, our leadership team set out to bring our school community closer together in new and meaningful ways. We wanted to create opportunities that would make people feel seen, connected, and proud to be part of BISP. One of our proudest achievements was organising the very first BISP Prom, something that had lived in the hearts and imaginations of students for years. To see it finally happen, to have the space filled with music, laughter, and energy, was a moment I’ll never forget. It wasn’t just about the fairy lights or formal clothes but about giving back to the Phuket community and creating a shared memory that brought us all together.
We also remained committed to uplifting student voices, working to support projects across both primary and secondary, and to build stronger links between year groups, departments, and cultures. Creating our school newspaper, Bird’s Eye View, was a proud moment, not just for us, but for the whole community that helped make it all possible.
BISP has never been just a school to me. It’s been a second home and is a vibrant, global family made up of people from every corner of the world. It’s a place where perspectives are shared, ideas are grown, and friendships are formed across languages and backgrounds. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have spent five years here, surrounded by such inspiring people and opportunities.
Thank you, BISP for the memories, the lessons, the laughter, and the love. You’ll always be a part of me.
Kathryn (Katie) Willis Head student
As I write this, a great cloud of grey blankets the school. It’s the rainy season once more, 2 years since I first came to BISP. The rain’s wet arms alternate between pushing away the ground - leaving a flurry of mud - and embracing it, cracking the hard rock to allow the vivid green plants to sprout through, teeming the green spaces with new life. Phuket’s year is split between seemingly-unstoppable rain, blistering heat and a sliver of cool sunshine in between. However, in the face of these extremes, it holds some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth, as the challenges breed growth, creating the supportive conditions for year-round greenery.
My time at BISP has been one of the most rigorous of my life, with the downpour of information and the blistering heat of pressure chipping away at my exterior. However, it has also encouraged immense growth and resilience. The teachers have supported me by strengthening my foundations and catching me when I feel like I’ll fall apart, my friends and classmates have shared the load and tangled their roots with mine, creating permanent connections, and the countless opportunities have fertilised and aerated the soil for growth. BISP is like an ecosystem: our success is interdependent with the actions of each other.
As Head Student, I have been so grateful to all the people that work to make this school the best it can be. From lower school house captains all the way up to helpful alumni, staff, and teachers, as well as the incredible student leadership team and the student representatives, everything that we take for granted is the result of hours of hard work behind the scenes. In this role, Ember and I have tried to amplify these voices and give students the opportunities to inform their own BISP legacies, with programmes like Bird’s Eye View magazine, a student instagram, BISP’s first prom and a quiet study room at lunchtimes. Personally, I am also proud of encouraging more student-led extracurriculars, because leadership isn’t just about the position you hold, but also the role you play in supporting others and inspiring change, regardless of your title.
In the following pages, we’ll see countless examples of leadership, both public and hidden, from students and staff alike. Just as a magnificent tree can’t grow without rain, soil, sunshine and nutrients, every student has grown as a result of challenges, community, opportunities and support. Thank you, BISP. You’ll always stay a part of me, and everyone, in this beautiful ecosystem.

Mr. Man and Mr. Craigen extend their heartfelt thanks to all students for their enthusiasm, dedication, and creativity in producing outstanding work—whether in the workshop or through STEAM robotics. We look ahead with excitement to another year of innovation, inspiration, and success in our new workshops.
Year 7's started the year on a pencil graphical two point perspective project that gradually developed into computer aided design. We then focused on packaging and the various 'net's' associated with this. Presently we are working on a workshop based pinball game, combining all the learned skills from previous projects
The Year 8 students have been developing their CAD, drawing, and modelling skills through 3D printing and working with a range of materials. They have also been designing a board game, created using card and plywood. Additionally, the Year 8 project includes a pinball machine that brings together all the skills they have learned into a final design-and-make project
The Year 9 students have been developing their CAD, drawing, and modelling skills through 3D printing and working with a range of materials. They have also been working on branding and designing a fragrance bottle aimed at mass market appeal. The Year 9 project includes a pinball machine that brings together all the skills they have learned into a final design-and-make project.
Both the International Baccalaureate and Cambridge IGCSE explore topics from sustainable energy to 3D printing in manufacturing, using hands-on experimentation and inquiry-based learning to foster critical thinking and real-world problem-solving
Year 11 students take on the challenge of recognizing, evaluating, and addressing problems through imaginative thinking, careful planning, and inventive design approaches. They will work with a diverse range of materials, manufacturing techniques and tools to produce their final outcomes.
Year 13 students are advancing their proficiency through the development of the Internal Assessment project, integrating conventional fabrication methods with CAD/CAM technologies, including 3D printing and laser cutting. This component constitutes 40% of their final assessment in the International Baccalaureate program.
