Our school values of respect, compassion, and integrity will continue to guide us in everything we do, as we work together to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
I am thrilled to report that we have seen a record number of new students and families join our community this year. This is a testament to the strength and resilience of our school community, and I am confident that we will continue to thrive together.
We are proud of our students’ achievements in academics, sports, performing arts, and other extracurricular activities, and we celebrate their successes with enthusiasm and passion. We are also excited about the new initiatives, programs, and projects that we have planned for the year ahead, and we are confident that they will provide our students with even more opportunities to grow, learn, and discover their passions.
As always, we are grateful for the ongoing support and cooperation of our parents, and we appreciate the hard work and dedication of our teachers, coaches, and support staff. Thank you for your professionalism, commitment, and efforts to ensure that our students receive a high-quality education, no matter what the circumstances may be.They have gone above and beyond to ensure that our students receive the best possible education, both in and out of the classroom. Their commitment to our students is truly remarkable, and we are grateful for everything they do.
As we prepare to bid farewell to our graduates, I want to wish them all the best as they embark on new adventures and experiences. We are confident that they will continue to make us proud and achieve great things in the years ahead.
Finally, I want to thank our editorial and marketing teams for their hard work in creating this yearbook. It serves as a wonderful reminder of all that we have accomplished together this year, and it will be a cherished keepsake for our students for years to come.
As we move forward into the new school year, we must continue to prioritize personal growth, learning, and the wellbeing of our students. We will continue to offer a high standard of education, and we will work to provide opportunities for our students to discover their passions and develop new skills.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and dedication to our school community. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the coming year.
Simon Meredith HeadmasterI would like to express my delight and appreciation for your cooperation and support of the school’s success through the years.
The school has retained, and improved the high quality of the curriculum, staff, and facilities to ensure the students’ excellence in all fields, i.e. knowledge, skill, health, well-being, etc. I sincerely thank all teachers, staff, assistants, students, and parents for being a part of the school’s progress.
The school continues to invest in its facilities and aims to be a truly outstanding International School. During last year, we have improved and renovated the infrastructure, classrooms, refectory, boarding houses and learning equipment, to assure that the school can fully support students to achieve their best ability in academic learning, activities, and personal progress.
In the years further, I am confident that our hardworking, excellent staff and students, along with great support from parents will take the school further continuously growing in quality and in service.
Wishing everyone happiness and great success!
Viponchai School DirectorAs another school year comes to a close, I want to express my gratitude for the hard work and dedication of everyone in our community. Despite the challenges we have faced, we have persevered and thrived, and I am proud of all that we have accomplished together.
This year, we were able to resume full operations without disruption due to Covid-19, which allowed our students to fully participate in a wide range of activities both inside and outside of school. From sports and music to drama and community service, our students have had countless opportunities to explore their interests and develop new skills.
I am grateful for the enthusiasm and commitment of our students to learning, and I am proud of the progress they have made in their academic and personal pursuits. Our staff has played a crucial role in supporting our students’ growth and development, and I want to thank them for their tireless efforts and dedication.
I also want to express my appreciation to our families for their unwavering support and involvement in our school community. Your partnership and engagement are vital to the success of our school, and we appreciate the trust you have placed in us to provide your children with a first-class education.
As we say goodbye to another school year, let us take with us the memories, lessons, and friendships we have made, and look forward to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you for being a part of the British International School Phuket community, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
Asst.Prof.Dr.Nares Pantaratorn Managing director SuwinaiIt has been a wonderful year in the Primary school at BISP, one in which we seem to have returned to the vibrant, dynamic and very busy school so full of opportunities for those willing to grasp them. The daily experience of enthusiastic, friendly and positive learning has been enhanced by a diverse series of special events including the celebration of cultural festivals (Wai Kru, Loy Krathong, Halloween, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Songkran. . . ), sports events (Sports Days, cross country, Soccer 7s. . . ) and arts events (weekly musical concerts, ‘Lights, Camel Action!’, Theatre Week . . .), Add in other elements such as Book Week, Thai cultural trips and residential trips - phew! All this and more is reflected in the pages to come.
Fundamentally I think a good school is a community, built on positive relationships between staff, students and parents. We have a wonderful, hard-working school staff, with whom it has been my privilege to work. Add to this our tremendously cheerful, kind and friendly children and their supportive parents and the firm bedrock of our community becomes apparent.
Like a number of you, this will be my last year at BISP as I retire back to the UK. I go with many fond memories, some of which will no doubt be triggered by images in this book. I hope that will be the same for all those others leaving at this time, and I wish you all every success wherever your future lies. For those who are staying, as well as those who will be joining our community next year, good luck and keep building those memories in an atmosphere of respect, compassion and integrity.
It is with great pleasure to yet again open such a wonderful yearbook as a celebration of our students’ accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom. It serves as a cherished keepsake of the memories and experiences that have made the academic year 2022-23 so special.
As we look through the pages of the yearbook, we are reminded of the friendships formed, the challenges overcome, and the growth achieved by our students. From academic achievements to extracurricular successes, this publication is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community.
We wish our graduating class of 2023 the very best of wishes as they transition to become BISP alumni, and look forward to learning about their further educational adventures that lie ahead. Cherish this yearbook as a symbol of your growth and accomplishments, and as a reminder of the friendships and experiences that will remain with you for a lifetime.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the creation of this annual publication.
5 years ago, I moved to this school as a 13 year old boy with dreams of becoming a football player. I thought that moving to this school would allow me to fulfil those dreams. However, here I am, 5 years later with a new set of dreams that no longer entail football. It is a testament to the endless opportunities that BISP provides to all of their students. There are so many things that could inspire you in this community.
BISP is one of a kind. The diverse community and plethora of opportunities that are available for you to develop or even discover your passions and interests with the guidance of a supportive community is what makes this place so unique. No matter if it is sports, academics, or arts all these passions have a place to thrive at BISP where you are surrounded by talent. It was the overall holistic approach of the school which is what moulded me into who I am today.
With the honour of being a Head student, I was able to interact with students from different year groups. Working with the House team captains, we were able to integrate the secondary house system with primary school aiming for students to build relationships with different year groups. We also launched the Golden Smile- a fundraising run event that would support the golden mile. I hope these will continue along to help improve the BISP community.
This one of a kind experience is something I never would have expected. However, I truly would like to thank you for giving me the privilege to be your voice as Head student. I hope a legacy has been left behind in this fantastic community. I wish all of you the best!
Walking through the halls of BISP, it is clear that this is no ordinary educational institution.
Every aspect of the school emanates a dynamic energy that is difficult to ignore, from dedicated students to passionate teachers. As you step into our classrooms, you will observe students anxiously anticipating their opportunity to offer fresh ideas. In our athletic facilities, you can observe students who have a true balance of interests. In our art department, you will find an abundance of talent. This is what makes BISP so unique: regardless of who you are and where your interests lie, you are always supported by those around you.
During my time as Head Student, I had the opportunity to work with a huge part of the community, from the wonderful Wellbeing Team to our teachers, parents and the student body, we revitalised our impact on student welfare and on the broader community through fundraising events such as the Halloween Disco to grow mangrove trees around Phuket, mitigating floods in the coming years and started the Peer Support Group to cultivate a cycle of health consciousness and enhance relationships within the student body.
Although I have only been here for two years, the unity within the BISP community has been my guiding force every step of the way.
As I walk out the hallways to the next chapter of my life, I will never forget the way BISP has taught me that when we work together and lift each other up, we can achieve great things and create even greater memories.

In late January 2023 we celebrated the Lunar New Year; the Year of the Rabbit. Celebrations and activities were held throughout the primary and secondary schools as we welcomed back the ever-popular Lion Dance after the COVID hiatus. The PTA provided dumpling-making sessions and children were able to sample the delights of Chinese cuisine. We had art and craft exhibitions, calligraphy workshops, performances of songs in Chinese and a wonderful assembly in primary school featuring songs, dances and gymnastics. There was also a jiàn zi competition and the primary and secondary foyers were bedecked with Chinese lanterns and other decorations.

Pratik Chokkalingam, Year 8
The poem's main message signifies that a memory, no matter how simple, can hold a special place in your heart if it fills you with happiness or pleasure Thus, whenever the feeling of forlornness or boredom infects your heart, the special memory can wash away those feelings and replace them with the happiness and pleasure reminisced in the memory.
Sam Thanasongtrakul, Year 8The kindhearted, keen kids gobbled up their snacks like wolves, begging for more while the parents exchanged their influential, integral ideas and thoughts. Immediately after, everybody flew into the crashing, crunching, current of the waves. The sea was a mother rocking their cheerful, contented child.
Clayton Serfleck, Year 7
Novels almost ubiquitously have an ultimate purpose, the pervading vehicle of choice by which authors choose to deliver said purpose is through triggering involuntary emotional responses – regardless of our prior standpoints, a successful book will be able to overcome what we previously deemed rationality by exploiting our most fundamental infirmity.
Dexter Power, Year 13Golden chains dangle from his ears and multicoloured beads are tangled in his long, fair locks. He seems to blend in with the masses of shelves protruding from the walls; save for his coal-black eyes peering out from his sallow, waxy face
Ember Hewison , Year 11
The sound of clanging metal pierced the air, causing me to wake from my fitful sleep. I opened my eyes to see a strange figure standing in front of me, a hooded figure with a pendulum in one hand and a torch in the other The pendulum was swinging steadily, hypnotically back and forth like an ancient clock counting down its last moments before eternity.
Eleonora Kokotiukha, Year 12
I hope this letter provides you with some sense of closure. If my life was repeated a thousand times, it would still be you, you and once again, you. I would choose you in every lifetime and if, in some bizarre circumstance, I wasn’t able to, I would spend my entire life wondering what it would be like with you by my side
Katie Leon, Year 9
And as the day slowly shifted into night time, those same fatigued eyes subtly stared, through their peripheral gaze, at the lethargic clock fixed to that white wall they face all day However, now instead of violently charging towards machines or answering useless phone calls, they all stalled.

The other trope, perhaps even more common, is the cartoonish representation of Mr Trump’s figure: the familiar mop of blonde hair, the fixed facial expression, the double chin and his familiar black suit This is perhaps a concession to the considerable weight of feeling against him within liberalism and also can be interpreted as the real feelings behind the subsequent careful and balanced analysis
Yi Won Tang, Year 13
Her quick glimmering eyes, darting around as if she had a tail on her did not match her serene and polite smile. There was an air of desperation around her. Ultimately it was her fingernails which gave her away. They were not extravagant or painted. But they were taken care of. Clean cut, short, not a thing out of place It was obvious her clothes were meant to dissuade observers from identifying her Celia de Rocher de la Baume, Year 10

In June 2022 during the penultimate week of school, Year 12 Spanish and French students had the opportunity to experience an artistic and linguistic immersion where they enhanced their knowledge about culture and demonstrated their artistic skills. These wonderful days of learning and entertainment were concluded with a delicious lunch at "Little Paris", where we enjoyed the delights of French cuisine. This interdisciplinary experience, in addition to allowing students to enrich their knowledge of other cultures, also provided them with a space for fun and relaxation where art, language and music shared the stage.
The Design and Technology department has had an exceptional year! In March 2023 the United Nations produced a report on global warming and climate Change (AR6 Synthesis Report, 2023). Included in the report is a "survival guide to avert climate disaster”. It suggests that there are 4 things that you can do about your carbon footprint …suggestion No. 2 states that: "The simplest and most effective way to limit your impact is to reduce meat and dairy in your diet, particularly red meat such as lamb and beef."
