8th Straight State Championship / National Champs 3 Years in a Row! Eight times in a row and 3-Peat were the themes this year for the Bishop Gorman Football team... and they did not disappoint! The Gaels dominated the rest of the country, finishing undefeated for the 3rd straight year at 15-0 and knocking off every team they faced. In the State Championship game at Sam Boyd Stadium, the Gaels beat the #21 team in the country, Liberty High School. They were voted #1 in the country and crowned National Champions by every major media outlet.

Bubba Bolden was named the Nevada Defensive Player of the Year by Max Preps. Tate Martell received several state and national awards. He was named the Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year, the Gatorade National Player of the Year, Max Preps National Player of the Year, and USA National Player of the Year. Coach Kenny Sanchez was named National Coach of the Year by Max Preps.

The team received several individual awards as well. Bubba Bolden ’17, Haskell Garrett ’17, Tyjon Lindsey ’17, and Tate Martell ’17 were named to the prestigious Army AllAmerican game.

Continuing the Family Legacy Congratulations to Chuck O’Bannon ’17 on being named to the 24-member McDonald’s All American Games roster. Chuck will participate in the prestigious game which will be held in Chicago on March 29, 2017. The McDonald’s All American Games is somewhat a tradition in his family, being that Chuck’s father and uncle, both played in the game in the early 1990s. Way to go!

Thespians Win 32 Events at Regionals! Bishop Gorman Thespians received SUPERIOR Ratings in 14 events and EXCELLENT Ratings in 32 events! Forty-two Bishop Gorman Thespians will move on to compete in 46 events at the State Tournament in March 2017.
