PARENT HOURS The deadline for Parent Hours is May 10. Please refer to the Parent Hours Statement you received in the mail to determine remaining hours, if any. Hours were charged to your May tuition statement at the higher rate. Families who volunteer, donate an item, or buyout their unfilled hours by May 10 will be charged at the lower rate and your tuition account will be adjusted accordingly.

If you believe your Parent Hours Statement is incorrect, please contact Mrs. Elisa Torres by email at: etorres@ bishopamat.org. Be sure to include your student’s ID number, event name, date and the specific job you worked.

FINAL TUITION STATEMENTS - SEMESTER EXAMS Final tuition statements have been mailed. This statement reflects unpaid tuition, fees (including Registration Part I for 2019-2020, and unfilled parent hours.

The balance on your account must be paid in order for your student to take semester exams, and in the case of seniors, to pick up the student’s cap/gown on May 22.

Please be reminded that student’s who are denied the privilege to sit for semester exams will be given an “Incomplete” grade in each class in which a final exam is missed. Students with Incomplete grades at the end of summer will not be allowed to return to Bishop Amat.

It is extremely important that you take care of your outstanding financial obligations to the school by May 10 in order to avoid the consequences – no semester exams, graduation, ineligibility for sports programs.

PARENT PORTAL Throughout the semester, parents should utilize the “View Live Grades” function on the Parent Portal to monitor their child’s progress in each of their classes. This feature provides a live snapshot of your child’s grade. However, once the semester has ended (June 10), parents should generate a “Report Card – Semester 2.”

This link can be found on the left side of the screen, under Progress/Report Cards (after you have clicked on your student’s name). Only the “Report Card – Semester 2” will give you an accurate account of grades that will appear on your child’s transcript. The “Grades” portion of the Parent and Student Portals will be closed from the beginning of the underclass exams June 3 through June 6, 2019.

The second semester exams for underclassmen will be administered on June 4, 5, 6. All students are expected to be present for their examinations.

Semester Report Cards will be mailed and available for viewing via the Parent Portal on Monday, June 10, 2019. Parents are asked to note the Semester Failures policy, which appears on Page 9 of Lancer Life. Please emphasize with your student that the consequence of a semester failure is mandatory attendance at Bishop Amat’s summer school, this summer. Any student who receives three semester failures may be required to withdraw from Bishop Amat High School. If you have any questions, please call Ms. Christine Shaw at extension 7421 MASS FOR MOTHERS May is the month in which the Church honors Mary, the mother of Jesus. Family Ministry will be celebrating a Mass with the intention of all the mothers in the Amat family on Monday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. All families are invited to attend. We will also remember deceased mothers from the Amat family in our prayers during Mass.

STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE Parent Hours for this school year are due on May 10.

However, parent volunteers are still needed to help in the Infirmary for May and June. Parents that volunteer after May 10th will have their hours count toward the next school year (2019-2020). If you are interested in helping, please call the Attendance Office at ext. 5876 or stop by to sign-up. Please remember that you must be Virtus certified.

In addition, parent volunteers will be needed to help in the Infirmary during summer school. Again, this is a great opportunity to complete some parent hours for the 2019-2020 school year. Summer school will begin on June 17 and end on July 19. Summer school hours are from 7:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and you can sign up for part or all of the day, depending on your schedule. If you are interested in helping out in the Infirmary during the summer, please call the Attendance Office at ext. 5876 or stop by sometime in May to sign up in our book.

The Sophomore Ring Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Just a reminder to all parents that, per school policy, the school does not accept any deliveries (i.e. food, balloons or other items) to the school in celebration of a birthday, anniversary or other special days, including school picnics.

In addition, on special activity or picnic days, Early Dismissal requests will not be approved and processed unless the parent/legal guardian comes to campus to personally make the request. This includes the parent/ legal guardian of any student driver. Phone call requests will not be accepted either. There will be no exceptions to these school policies. We thank you, in advance, for your understanding and cooperation.
