By and by they will grow big .

II . A PEACH TREE .
I will tell you about m y work .
I have been resting all winter .
I have j ust begun my year ’ s work .
Fir st I m ust wake up all my little buds
I feed them with sap.
That makes them grow bigger .
My pretty pink flowers must be done
first . When they are done , I look very beautiful .
I s oon throw off my gay pink dress .
I m ust keep working on my little leave s
They have been wrapped u p in little buds
I feed them till th ey are grown .
Then my green dress is done .
It is not so pretty as my pi nk one but it lasts longer .

III . A PEACH T REE .
“ Did you think I had told about all my work
No , indeed , I have not .
I have all my little baby peaches to feed I have m ore children to care
for than a m othe r bird .
Each little flower left m e a tiny peach .
I m ust send sap out to every one .
I must not mi ss any . I m ust put a little seed in each one .
I wrap up a little tree in each seed .
I wish you to have plenty of peach trees . When my peaches are big, the sun will help m e to color them . He will paint them red and yellow .
