EYEMASK
WADDING/BATTING ELASTIC
BIAS STRIP THREAD FRILLED LACE
SEWING:
1. Place the top piece on the wadding right side up. You can the vanishing marking pens (test on scrap to ensure marks will disappear) to mark diagonal quilting lines 1” apart. Quilt the top piece and wadding together.

2. Pin top and bottom pieces with wrong sides together. Pin elastic at the marked points and line up edges of the mask.

3. Take bias strip, fold and press ¼ “on one side. Pin unfolded edge of binding with right side towards back. Stitch the unfolded edge with ¼” seam, keep pinning until the binding fits the mask circumference. Sew the binding strip ends together to close and cut away any excess. Complete sewing around the mask. Clip the seam to reduce bulk.

Fold and pin bias towards front to close and edge stitch through all layers to neaten and finish.

TO BEGIN:
Print out or trace make up bag pieces.
CUTTING:
Cut four pieces of main fabric (or 2 main and 2 contrasting lining)
Cut two pieces of wadding
Cut a 10” x 8” pocket piece
Cut a bias strip for edging 1 ½” x 22”

1. Take zip and place face down at the top of one front piece. Place one inner piece on top so that right sides are facing each other. Pin in place. Sew 0.5cm along the zip with zipper foot. Now do this on the other two pieces of fabric on the other side of the zip. Press seams next to the zip to ensure they are as flat as possible.

2. Draw diagonal quilting lines 1 ¼'' apart and line 1.2cm parallel to both sizes of zip using the vanishing marker (always test the marker for removal first on a scrap piece of fabric). Place the wadding between the layers on each side of the zip. Quilt diagonally, through the top layer and wadding and backtrack 2-3 stitches at the beginning and end of each row to secure stitching. Ensure all the quilt lines are starting on the line 1.2cm from zip.
3. Pin lace approx ¼'' from zip and sew through the centre of the lace covering the 1.2cm top line, through all layers (including lining). If lace is not used, topstitch along the 1.2cm line through all thicknesses to secure the lining from movement when opening the zip.

4. Take pocket piece and fold in half lengthwise. Press and stitch lace ¼” from folded edge. (or stitch ¼'' from edge if not using lace).
5. Pin pocket in position right side up. Mark lines for pocket divisions 4'' and 6 ½'' from right side of bag and stitch along these lines through the pocket and lining. Trim away any excess seam, then neaten the corners on the bottom of the bag.

6. Make sure the zip is partially unzipped. Sew through all the layers 1/4'' from the edge to hold layers together. Fold the bag in half along the zip so the outside pieces face each other. Trim away any access seam allowance.
7. Press one edge of the binding 1/4'' from edge. Take unpressed side of the bias strip and pin it 3/8'' from edge allowing 1/2'' to overhang of fabric on both sides and attach binding. Fold the 1/2'' of binding to cover the top of the seams. Edge stitch or handsew binding to neaten and enclose the inside seams of the bag. Turn bag through the open zip to the correct side.
