Welcome to our 2024 production sale Welcome to the Ipsen Cattle Company 11th annual Online production sale. We have been in the bull business since 1976 and are proud of this journey. We are excited to have RanchHQ as our sale platform again and look forward to working with them again. Please look it over prior to sale time to get used to how things run. Get signed up early so you are ready come sale time. Be familiar with the terms and remember we are always here to show the cattle at your convenience. You can run the wheels off your truck and be away from the calving barn all you want but you won’t find any better bulls than here. We offer fall bulls that have been developed slowly and under sound feeding principles (no hot feed just to brag on their gain). We do this for the well-being and longevity of the animal and we believe a fall bull will run circles around all the spring yearling bulls that are being offered for sale this spring. I know you will easily get more bull for the amount paid at this sale than anywhere you look this spring.
WELCOME & SALE TERMS
Sale Terms:
Logan has again helped us as an eye in the field as he sees more bulls and sire groups than anyone we know. His keen eye and ability to assess good cattle gives us a huge advantage in our sire selection. I think this group of bulls, across the board, brings the Genetic and Pheno type together better than any group we have offered. We are always looking for ways to increase the value of our bulls for our buyers. At the end of the day after they have been Measured, Tested, Weighed and Sifted we offer them to you. This year we learned of a new program offered by Allied Genetics to take the level of confidence in the genetics of our Black Hereford cattle a step higher. It is called Right Choice. We have the levels detailed in the Catalog but by testing them one more time Allied gives increased confidence in their accreditation and evaluation of the genetics of these cattle. All cattle selling have been parent verified, EPD’s genomically enhanced, Right Choice designated and all bulls have been PAP tested to give you the highest level of predictability possible. The Hereford Association has detected another recessive defect in that breed which has affected a big population of the breed. We are having 2 bulls tested and will have the results by sale time so watch the footnotes in RanchHQ. We will be happy to discuss this with anyone. With modern day science this is easy to manage and we welcome any questions or address any concerns. BULL BUYERS: I want to take just a minute to talk about PAP scores. It seems to be the “in thing” lately and many breeders are doing it. Make sure two important things are followed with PAP testing. Animals must be at or above 5900’ elevation 60 days prior to testing and be at least 12 months of age or more to have any accuracy in the test. Here is the recommendation that Dr. Holt has set for scores: 43 PAP score and lower can run at any elevation, scores at 44-51 to 7500’, and scores above 52 should stay at lower elevations. Please don’t be afraid to discuss this with us if you have any questions. HEIFER BUYERS. Take a good look at the heifers offered this year. The quality is phenomenal again. Every heifer in the sale is quality enough to go into a registered program. Take advantage here. Thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to continuing to earn your trust in the future. For those that may be new to us please feel free to call anytime. We like discussing cattle. We are grateful to have made so many friends in this business. Please join us on sale day for a tri-tip lunch.

The Targeting the Brand logo is designed to highlight registered Angus bulls with greater genetic potential to produce calves meeting the most challenging specifications of the Certified Angus Beef brand. Bulls must meet genetic requirements of +0.65 Marbling EPD and +55 Dollar Grid ($G) to qualify.
Ipsen cattle has been measuring and selecting for maternal excellence in the three breeds that we produce. The Hereford breed introduced it many years ago and see the benefits it has produced. The program, regardless of the breed, is designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and ultimately expand reproductive productivity in the herd. By submitting all our data and driving ourselves to study more economically relevant traits in our herd, we are able to offer data that is transparent to our customers and allows them to rely on the data produced by the associations based on maternal genetics. Our dedication to our cow herd is second to none. It has been a commitment to account for every female in the herd, one in which has paid of for us and we feel will pay for our customers as well. Genomics: Don’t just take our word for it Now producers can make more rapid genetic progress than ever before with genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs). Genetic evaluation also means commercial producers of registered cattle can make selection decisions with increased confidence in the accuracy of genetic predictions and assured Parent verification. All lots have GE-EPD profiles.

“Greatness is a lot of small things done well, day after day, and performance after performance.” -Ray Lewis We are excited to offer our first sons of Hoffman High Road. He is designed for consistency, built by quality, and backed by value! High Road’s elite style, structure, EPD profile, and overall value illustrates why we choose to introduce his genetics to our Angus program. He stands square at the ground on good feet with lots of rib shape and body. He is appreciated by many for his added mass and Angus Character. He is arguably the most unique individual in the Angus breed. His wide-spread performance can improve mating’s for many environments. High Road blends power and substance from all angles into a long, smooth, heifer bull package that’s simply hard to rival. His dam, also the dam of Hoffman Thedford, is a matriarch who has been called “irreplaceable” for her unique phenotype and power. He lands in the Top 20% of the Angus breed for $B, Claw and BW, Top 15% for HP and MW, Top 10% for $C ans MH, Top 5% for $F and CW, Top 4% for CED and $M, Top 3% for WW, YW, Docility and $W, with Top 1% for CEM.

HERD BULL CANIDATE, CALVING EASE WITH GROWTH, MATERNAL POWER, LOW PAP We are starting off the sale with a power house in this Hoffman High Road son. He is long spined deep in his chest and girth, level in his flank and over his top. Skyline has a powerful rear quarter yet is very trim and attractive through his head and neck. Here is a sleep all night calving ease bull with plenty of go to get the job done and cover any country he is put in. He has caught my eye his entire life and still does to this day. His dam is as powerful as you can make them, perfect udder, solid feet, fertile and is a cornerstone in our breeding program.

HERD BULL PROSPECT, CALVING EASE, HIGH GROWTH, MATERNAL POWER, LOW RISK PAP SCORE. We gave Above All his name since from birth he has risen to the top. Powerfull in his makeup, he strides like a cat and tracks almost perfectly when on the move. 2911 is impressive in his front 1/3 with nice tight and balance shoulders, big middled with tons of capacity and tremendously wide across his back. Not many Angus bulls have the thickness and depth in his rear quarter as Above All exhibits. His enhanced EPD projections match his individual perfomance records indicating they are correct and will transmit his power to his offspring. Calving ease with supervision, Growth and Maternal, Low risk PAP score. Walt is a Deer Valley Growth son with meat and muscle to impress the most discriminant buyer! He can be used on larger heifers with supervision but his real roll will be siring scale busting steers. 2918 is a powerhouse with great growth predictions as shown by his top of the breed Epd’s. He was raised on a young 3 yr. old cow that I expect great things from in the future. Her son in last years sale was a highlight and no doubt Walt will be found in the pen by many. He exploded from weaning to yearling while out on grass for 60 days. His PAP score will allow him to run at elevation. Dam’s production: CI: 2 @ 391, Avg BW 68 lbs, WW: 2 @ 101 ratio, YW: 2 @ 103 ratio. Dam has a son working for Gilbert Farms (ID)

Calving ease, Growth, Maternal, Docility, Low Risk PAP. 514 has become a cow that producers are asking, where is her bull? Henry is a Growth Fund son that is correct and put together so well that it is hard to start to describe him. He is correct from the ground up. Looking at him from the rear he has a wide stance, meat to his hocks and thick in his quarter. There is plenty of spring to his ribs and he blends very well from his neck into his shoulders. Run him at elevation with confidence! Dam’s production CI: 6 @ 365, Avg. BW: 73 lbs. WW: 6 @ 102, YW: 6 @ 105. Dam has son working for Milleg (WY) Johnson (ID) Romrell (ID).

Calving ease with good growth prediction. Another Growth Fund bull from a first calf heifer that was born unassisted. The Growth Fund calves are born easy, shaped right and get up quickly. Use Branch on heifers with confidence then into the cow herd but make sure you mark all the females as replacements. The bottom side of pedigree has two of the Angus breeds most highly used sires (Tahoe and Black Granite). For best results this bull should run at elevations lower than 6000’.

Growth bull, Low Risk PAP. This powerful Homestead bull has been an eye catcher from birth. If you believe in the EPD’s as we do, he will sire some pretty powerful steer calves. He is the complete herd bull package combining muscle, center body dimension and performance. 2114 shares the same look as his sire, Homestead, being thick and level across his top with a wide stance and thick through his rear 1/3 having plenty of red meat in the primal cut areas. He is very active and will cover a lot of big country during the breeding season. A TRUE COWBOY BULL! Dam’s production CI: 10 @ 367, Avg. BW: 69, WW: 10 @ 101, YW: 8 @ 101. Calving ease, Growth. This Montana son out of a first calf heifer, that traces back to the very good 86T cow, is a sure fire calving ease bull. Being raised on a 2 yr. old we expect lower weight but this crop of bulls from the 2 yr. olds have done very well and held their own against the herd. His tidy Angus head and tight shoulders makes calling him a calving ease bull an easy call plus the fact we believe his genomically enhanced EPD’s tell us that his calves will explode in growth. His daughters will have extremely good udders with plenty of milk to make them very valuable in a cattle cycle that will reward you for several years in your genetic selection.

Calving ease, Maternal. This Montana son is a very attractive, eye appealing calving ease bull. Double digit CED, negative BW and a mid 60 actual birth weight. His 3 year old dam brought him to weaning at 6% heavier than the average of his herdmates. I think this bull deserves a pretty close look and consideration. He does need to run at a lower elevation due to a higher PAP score. Dam’s production CI: 2 @ 389, Avg. BW: 65, WW: 2 @ 108, YW: 2 @ 102.

Calving ease with supervison, Maternal, Moderate Risk PAP. Those that have been to see the bulls have put Great Falls on their short list. He is double digit CED with a very low BW EPD, however his actual weight was a tic high for me to call him a sleep all night heifer bull. We do recommend using him on larger heifers or under supervision. His genetics will bring lots of milk to his daughters. His powerful Black Granite dam is one of our best. He is high energy and will cover the country he is put in. Run him at elevation to 8000’. Dam’s production CI: 5 @ 370, Avg. BW: 70, WW: 5 @ 103, YW: 4 @ 100. Calving ease with supervision, Growth and Maternal. Ronan was born unassisted from a first calf heifer during a cold snap last November. He excells in his growth predictions and $ values. 2024 is an extremely active bull that is easy to be around, he will cover the country and do his job. Ronan has an attractive head and shoulder make up with good spring to his ribs and red meat in his rear quarter. Don’t get distracted by his age compared with the older fall bulls in the sale.

Calving ease, Maternal, Moderate PAP risk. This very young Montana son is impressing me each and everyday. Low actual BW and BW EPD telling us he will work very well in a heifer program. His calves will hit the ground easy and grow rapidly according to his actual production. His dam is an own daughter of Sitz Alliance 6595 which is known for his highly productive daughters. Don’t shy away from him just because of his age!

When structure, quality, maternal excellence and genetic merit are considered, TH Masterplan 183F is arguably one of greatest young sires of the Hereford breed. He provides a powerful, unforgettable look with tremendous body and impeccable structure. Study his individual performance and ratios, and his story becomes even more intriguing. Masterplan’s dam is an exceptionally deep bodied and good uddered cow who adds the fleshing ability and fundamental Hereford traits needed for use in rugged environments.

Pigment: RE 90%/ LE 90%, Scrotal: 100%. 2814 is a big stout powerful bull with EPD projections putting him with the elite of the breed for growth and carcass traits. Yet he has some of the breeds greatest maternal sires in the bottom side of his pedigree that would allow him to be used in any one of many situations. Turn him into a pen of black cows and see the growthy steers with carcass premiums to make your banker smile. Keep replacements that will keep you in the business for years to come. He has ample milk, top of the breed Teat and Udders scores with a Baldy Maker index to tell us you will get the replacements desired when using him. For our Black Hereford breeders looking to take your cows to the purebred percentages here is a bull that could easily work in that setting. I don’t need to tell you how powerful this guy is, just look at him or his pictures and all the data. You will then realize what an oppurtunity is being put in front of you.

Pigment: Re 0% LE 90% Scrotal: 90%. 244 is a top end Master Plan son that excels in growth and carcass traits. Plus the traits that keep us all in the business such as Stayability, udder & teat, Baldy maker and CHB numbers are top of the breed. This rascal is sound footed, wide based, heavy muscled and is very active in his movement. He will, without a doubt, cover the country during the breeding season. His 719T dam has been one of our good cows that always has a top end calf no matter what we mate her to. Those, in my book, make our jobs as breeder look easy. Use him on cows only but run him at any elevation with confidence.
REFERENCE SIRE ICC C245 FULL POWER 9527 # HB015644
Big growth bull that has the style and balance for the most discriminate breeder. Some of the best genetics from the Hereford and Angus breeds are represented in his pedigree. Full Power exhibits extreme thickness and bone density set on powerful and correct feet to make this bull a must have in any breeding program.

I believe he could be used on larger heifers with supervision. Charm has been a standout since birth and continues to be a standout in his pen. He is very clean and tidy in his front 1/3 who is long spined and thick made in his rear quarter. We like his profile look, it shows how long and deep his middle section is.

However what makes him really standout to me is his natural thickness in the rear quarter and length of muscle in that same region. Plus as you can see he is so level out over his hip, a trait that the Black Hereford breed lacks in (rounded hip). 975 is progressing just like his brothers before him. He has not missed a beat and we are getting more and more excited about his quality. He does have a larger birth weight so use him on COWS only. However, we do not expect anyone to have calving trouble as his makeup is very clean and slender fronted. He is long spined and moderate in his rear quarter muscle. With his skeleton and Growth EPD we believe he will make a real good range bull that will cover some pretty rough country with ease.

80.85% BH, Pigment RE: 100% LE 100%, Scrotal 90%, Homo Black/Hetro Polled We bought this bull’s dam in Tennessee and brought her to Idaho in the spring. She thought life was good until we hit the worse winter we have had in decades last year. It was tough on both the cow and Jerimiah. However, he made up a lot of ground weight wise between weaning and Yearling so we gave him a chance and he continues to catch his herd mates. Here is a pretty nice bull with thickness in this upper region of his body indicating to me he has muscle and red meat in the primal cut regions. He is thick in his rear quarter. His dam is an own daughter of Iron Lady 124T, who is the carcass queen for JM Cattle. You see through his Carcass EPD’s that trait was passed on so we expect he will sire calves with big rib eyes with ample marbling, which is really our end goal.

F1 certified bull. Excels in growth, maternal and carcass. Genomic tested. We bring you a bull that has a fantastic pedigree bringing power from the Angus and Hereford breeds. Sired by the highly sought after Boyd Blueprint Hereford bull and a very productive Angus dam sired by Bear with Angus greats like Comrade, Final Product and Sitz Alliance 6595 in his pedigree. There is no doubt Buster has the potential to be a stand out for the producer that can and is willing to use a F1 bull. I thought enough of him that I brought him in to develop him and see how he turns out. So far Buster has not disappointed me.

We are proud that we use A.I. extensively to incorporate the top genetics of the Angus breed into our herd. Bear is our walking herd bull that will run with the top bulls in the breed across the board. He has the EPD profile, the look and after several years of use, we believe his offspring do all the speaking. An impressive looking bull with just as impressive EPD profile. He is balanced, not only in figures but in look. He packs meat and muscle with thickness throughout his body. His real value has surfaced in the females that he has left us with, they are everything we thought they would be and more.

It is very unfortunate that we only have one F1 heifer this year. You really could see just how good this female is with some comparison. I always hear “she is good because she is a F1”. I say no she is good because she has been designed to be good. Sitz and Schaff breeding on the top, NJW mixed in the bottom side of her pedigree. Whichever way she goes, registered breeder or commercial this female is going to leave a mark on that herd. She is powerful enough to end up in a donor pen rather quickly. Her EPD’s are top tier, to produce standout bulls or replacement quality females. AI’d 11/20/23 to DCD Leader 918 (HB014876) Hetro black/Homo Polled. A Full Power daughter coming from a 2 year old Endure momma that has brought the A game to the heifer pen. She is part of the Stacie cow family so I expect high growth, lots of milk and ample muscle. Once in a while a little more frame does show up in her phenotype.. If you look at her EPD predictions they match. One of the breeding goals I have is for the Geno type and Pheno type to line up. I always like to add a special offering at the end of each sale. This year we decided to share some frozen genetics. Offering 4 IVF sexed female embryos. Guaranteed 1 pregnancy if transferred by a certified ET tech. Here is a cutting edge genetic package. As a breeder of Black Hereford cattle you only get one opportunity to add the powerful gentics that come from the Angus breed. After that you can add all the Hereford or Black Hereford genetics you desire. Don’t shy away from this mating just because the resulting offspring will be F1’s. The Jameson bull used in this mating is a phenome in the Angus breed. Basin Jameson is the $600,000 Montana record-setting sire who balanced a 70 lb. BW as his dam’s first calf with an adjusted 205 day weight of 834 lbs and an adjusted 365 day weight of 1352 lbs while being fed a low energy ration designed for his long term reproduction fitness and semen production. 235G was our pick from the NJW sale where she was picked out as the best 73S daughter in the offering. Her first calf sold in our 2023 sale for $10,800 to Kompass cattle company She is easy fleshing, free moving and replicates her immortal dam 73S in udder quality.
