Fall is here. Not only are the temperatures, cooling off, but the familiar sound of bawling calves from weaning time also fills the nighttime air. For BioZyme® dealers, now is the time to stock up on VitaFerm® Cattle Drench and VitaFerm® Stress Tubs.
A Single Dose for Serious Gains
A single dose of VitaFerm Cattle Drench at weaning or when receiving stockers can have positive implications for health and gain, as indicated by a recent field trial in Kansas.
In this receiving trial, administering Drench on arrival resulted in a 0.1 pound average daily gain advantage at day 22. It also improved the health of the cattle, reducing the number of calves in the sick pen by 11 compared to the control group. In the control group, 28 calves ended up in the sick pen versus only 17 among those that received the drench. Death loss at day 22 was also reduced from 5 calves to 1 calf.
Numbers Don’t Lie
At the University of Tennessee Martin, researchers split 120 steer calves into two equal groups at processing time. Every other steer was dosed with the VitaFerm Drench as it went through the chute. In this receiving trial, administering Drench on arrival and providing VitaFerm Stress Tubs for 21 days resulted in a 29.5 pound weight gain advantage at day 49. Calf performance was significantly improved in week 1 and throughout the 7 week trial even
though treatment was discontinued on day 21 (after week 3).
These results suggest that including a protocol of Drench and Stress Tubs, results in a significant opportunity for producers.

As winter approaches and we look to the new year, we want to encourage you to prepare for the needs of your customers.
