WILD CELEBRATIONs The folks at Biosphere Expeditions have just finished celebrating their 10-year anniversary, marking a decade of helping the world’s endangered animals. This not-for-profit organisation allows people to experience adventures that genuinely help species at risk, from diving down to monitor coral reefs in Honduras to tracking Arabian leopards in the mountains of Oman. In its ten years, Biosphere has clocked up some impressive statistics: 100,000 hours spent in wildlife conservation, and one million pounds invested in projects worldwide. Their dedicated team of experts use Land Rover vehicles to access remote locations across the world. Armchair adventurer Bringing a whole new meaning to the idea of sitting in a Land Rover is this Defender chair, made by design specialists Ogle Noor (also seen on page 28). Called the Recliner L110, the chair is made with leather and aluminium, and features a motorized recliner, massage system, Wifi capability, surround sound, and space for storing maps and an emergency flask of whisky. According to Herman Tandberg, Ogle Noor’s head of design, the idea came about while the company was attempting to restyle the Defender as part of an internal design exercise. ‘The Defender is special from a design point of view,’ says Tandberg, ‘not only because it’s simple and honest, but because it is successfully used in operations ranging from farming to saving lives.
