Servo Mode:Servo mode operation is recommended when extended use is required.

When an alarm is silenced, close monitoring of the infant’s condition is required.

Verify that the skin temperature reading stabilizes within 0.2 C of the required temperature.

Fluctuations in the skin temperature or heater output can result from unstable room temperature.

Change is an airflow blockage of radiation to the infant or probe detachment from the infant.

Operation:Initially operate the equipment in the Manual mode with the warmer output at 70% to 80%.

Switch the Servo mode when the baby’s temperature is within 0.5 C of the required temperature.

This is to avoid exposing a very cold baby to a warm Radiant Warmer.

Place the temperature probe on the infants’ abdomen, halfway between the xiphoid and the umbilicus, with the metallic side touching the skin.

Fix the probe with reflective tape.

Select the Servo mode by pressing the MODE key.

Set the required temperature up key or down key.

PLo – Probe displacement.

ALr – manual mode alert alarm.

LOW – Low temperature.

HIGH – High temperature.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:Troubleshooting is defined by the device’s error codes or by indications.

Power fail This is a power failure problem, check the power supply cable output, check the fuse. Some time fuse is burnt because of high voltage or voltage fluctuation problem.

In this case, confirm the incoming voltage to the device and replace it. Generally, 4 amp to 5 amp fuse is used in Radiant Warmer.

System Fail – In that case SMPS board is not working properly. Call the Service Engineer for board-level issues.

The heater is not workingHEF, the heater failure issue occurs, when the heater is burnt. To clarify the problem check the continuity of the heating element using a multimeter.

In this case, if the heater fails then replace it with a new one. Before the replacement of the heating element confirm the AC voltage supply to the heater.

220 V to 230 V AC power supply used for the heating element.

The heating element is directly connected to the control panel board, check carefully.

Skin Probe/ Temperature Probe failureThe skin probe or temperature probe is the easiest part of the Radiant warmer to replace.

If you see Prb then the skin probe is not working, just replace it.

There are two types of skin probe three-pin connector and two-pin connector.

If you see Plo then the skin probe is not connected to the control panel, so remove and plug it properly.

The lamp is not workingIn Radiant warmer, the lamp is also called examination light or lamp.

A halogen lamp is used and value varies from model to model of the device.

In Bird Meditech, md – Innova – 220 V halogen lamp is used.

In Phoenix Medical, md – NWS101 – 12 V halogen is used.

Check the incoming voltage to the lamp.

Check the continuity of the lamp before replacement.

User PrecautionsNever use the rectal for controlling the infant’s temperature.

Prolonged exposure to radiant warming increases the insensible water loss of the infant.

Take the appropriate measures to maintain a proper infant fluid balance.

Determine the cause of any alarm and take appropriate action.

Do not use any solvents or flammable solutions. Avoid using spirit or alcohol to clean plastic parts.

Use mild soapy water to clean plastic parts.

Do not use water or any other liquid to clean electrical or electronic parts.

Do not place any objects directly over the bed. This may lead to inefficient warming.

Monitor the infants’ temperature periodically to avoid any possible overheating.

Mode PrecautionsA change in heater output will cause rapid infant temperature variations.

This increases the risk of hazardous overshoots or undershoots of infant temperature.

Do not leave the infant unattended in manual mode operation.

In the servo control mode, the equipment cannot distinguish between the feverinduced temperature increases and hypothermia.

So the use is recommended to monitor infants’ core temperature.
