COMMUNICATE: Share the message California is so much more than sunshine and sandy beaches—we work hard and play hard. Our life science sector is fueled by top-tier research institutions, universities, breakthrough discovery and fast-paced start-ups. We are at the epicenter of the world’s leading genomic cluster, with established pharmaceutical and medical device companies, digital health and so much more. Biocom creates international buzz for our flourishing state to support our members, attract our top workforce, promote legislative initiatives and transform healthcare. Through an array of targeted messages and effective communications strategies, including video and media outreach, Biocom will attract the next generation of life science talent, raise public awareness of California’s compelling role in the Science of Life and appeal to new businesses looking to expand in a supportive, vibrant biotech ecosystem. Biocom will also work to attract growing and established global and national life science leaders and business to expand to the California market. Over the next five years, we’ll communicate with: • The inquisitive public. We’ll educate the community at large on the importance of genomics and of the larger Science of Life industry, and let them in on the amazing work that’s happening in their region. • Policymakers. We will develop timely, easy-to-digest educational materials on our industry’s high-priority issues to familiarize lawmakers with life science and help them understand the vast economic impact. Biocom will also work with member companies to give them the tools to more effectively engage their employees helping to shape policy development, and build a roster of regional scientists and companies who are willing to speak with policymakers or the public on top issues.
