RENEWABLE HEAT PREMIUM PAYMENT (RHPP) Grant Aid towards your new Biomass Boiler! Domestic users installing a biomass boiler today will be able to apply for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) from autumn 2012. In the interim, domestic users can also apply for a Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) which is worth £950 towards the cost of a new MCS certified biomass boiler (under 45kW). To be eligible for this one-off payment users must meet certain conditions:  Users must be living in an area that is not connected to the gas grid and are therefore using alternative heating sources such as oil, LPG, solid fuel or electricity  The property must be the main home  Where practical loft insulation to a depth of 250mm and cavity wall insulation must be installed  The biomass boiler being installed must be registered under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and must be installed by a registered MCS installer.  Users may also be required to install a heat meter (provided free of charge).  Once installed and running the user will be required to complete and return two customer surveys, designed to help the Government understand the heating requirements within different types of homes. The RHPP is being administered by the Energy Saving Trust and runs from 1st August 2011 to 31st March 2012. For those customers awarded an RHPP they will then be able to apply for support under the Renewable Heat Incentive at the same time. The RHI will be extended to domestic users as part of the Green Deal, expected in October 2012. Therefore those domestic users who act now will get the best deal!
