We deliver complete solutions The Osby PB2 is a compact, fully automatic biomass boiler designed for firing dry wood fuels like pellets, briquettes and wood chips. The boilers vertical flue gas tubes are fitted with an automatic cleaning system that guarantees a consistently high boiler efficiency is maintained without the need for frequent shut downs or manual cleaning. This reduces both labour- and alternative fuel costs.

The Osby PB2 is a reliable compact unit for dry wood fuels. Delivered with all installations and wiring needed.

The hydraulic stepped grate automatically moves the fuel through the combustion chamber and discharges the ash. The boiler is delivered with an automatic internal ash handling system which further reduces the manual efforts required during the firing season. Our control system can be customized to handle just the boiler functions or even the entire heating plant. It is a truly adaptive system which can also be operated and monitored remotely.

The boiler is manufactured according to current standards and directives in Europe or USA

General operation for a biomass boiler Thanks to modern combustion technique even moist wood can be used as fuel, but when the moisture count increases the fuel consumption increases rapidly and also the need for sweeping the boiler becomes larger. Moist fuel burns unclean and produces much more sooth and ash. When using very moist fuel (>40%) it is recommended that the system is overdimensioned in regards to the desired output. The drying of the moist fuel during the combustion consumes energy and to be able to reach the desired output the system needs to be overdimensioned. The drying process also increases the amount of flue gases and if using a smaller boiler the flow through the boiler will be much to fast for the heat to be fully utilized. This rases the temperature of the flue gases which means that the heating energy is not properly utilized. Also the risk of corrosion in the boiler, exhaust canals and the chimney increases. It is very important not to have to low return temperature, bottom temperature or flue gas temperature. PB2 operational description A level switch controls the fuel feeding into the boiler. The combustion takes place on a stepped grate which moves the fuel forward in the furnace and finally discharges the remaining ashes into the internal ash auger. By keeping the fuel bed moving the forming of slag and cinder will be minimized. What ever waste product that formes will automatically be discharged together with the ash through the internal ash auger. The boiler is controlled by a computerized system which regulates the combustion according to the current load so that a constant flow water temperature can be maintained. The computer recieves a signal from the flow water temperature sensor and then regulates the negative pressure of the furnace, the grate movements and the fuel infeed. The combustion air will then be regulated by the furnace negative pressure. This is a simple and reliable method which also provides a constant regulation all across the load range.

Control system The Osby PB2 can be equipped with different control systems ranging from regulating only the boiler functions to control of the complete facility including pumps, backup boilers, valves etc. Also the contol systems can be operated remotely. Our control systems is programmed by our own experts and can be customized totally to fit the clients demands for both new and existing facilities. Thanks to the high level of precision of our systems the emission values will be low regardless of what load the boiler is operating on. The display will show the facility and the equipment using clear full sizes images.

Automatic ash handling

Automatic flue gas tube cleaning

The boiler is delivered with an ash auger and a dust auger. The control system will automatically discharge the ash and dust from the boiler.

The automatic cleaning system means constantly clean flue gas tubes and high boiler efficiency. Vertical flue gas tubes.

Final combustion The furnace is designed for a very effective final combustion which means very low emissions.

Maintenance

The PB2 is designed for minimial downtime even when performing larger maintenance task. • The grate is easily removed from the boiler for inspection and maintenance by releasing a few conveniently located bolts

• Instrumentation, controls and operating components are easily accessible

• The control system continuously monitors operation of the boiler and generates operating logs. In the event of equipment malfunction or a if a parameter moves outside of the normal limit the boiler is automatically controlled to a safe condition and an alarm is generated • The automatic cleaning system means that manual cleaning of the flue gas tubes is not needed during the heating season.

Combustion air control The air is drawn into the boiler by a variable speed flue gas fan. Two throttles above and below the grate control the primary and secondary air to the combustion chamber. This air flow automatically modulates to meet the thermal demand for the boiler


A maintenance space of 1300mm must be available over the top of the convection part
