Product Description GOTFire Wood Chip Burner Wood chips are an excellent material to use

as fuel for heating premises. Partly because chips are environmentally efficient and partly because they are often produced locally and require less energy to produce than for example pellets. The firing sequence is super vised by a photo-conductive cell to guarantee a good ignition procedure and a safe ope rating position. The burners are manufac tured in sizes of 40 kW, 60 kW and 100 kW. Additional effect sizes are currently being developed. GOTFire’s wood chip burners are built for

dry wood chips with a recommended degree of moisture of about 20–30% which is opti mal to guarantee a good operation and stable flue gas rate. The burners created a great interest when it was shown that they released a very low amount of material with an en vironmental impact. This was shown during stable modes when tested at the consultancy firm ÄFAB in Lidköping, West Sweden. The firing space is lined with ceramic insets which can easily be replaced when the old ones are worn out.

Wood chips are an excellent material to use as fuel for heating premises. Partly because chips are environ mentally efficient and partly because they are often produced locally and requires less energy to produce than for example pellets.

The small installation measurements of the

burner make it easy to mount on older types of boilers, which can be good if the customer has a boiler that can still operate for several years. The ignition and extinguishing function of the burner make it suitable even for being mounted on a hot air furnace.

All functions in the burner are controlled by

a PLC, which makes it very easy to make changes in the program to adjust the burner, according to the desires of the customer. The program in the PLC also takes care of the external functions such as chip storage and alarm functions. The PLC is mounted in the control box that is enclosed with the burner and is installed together with the applications ordered by the customer.

Specifications GOTFire Wood Chip Burner One of the positive aspects of burning wood chips is that most wood material can be used for hea ting. Some sorts of wood, however, contain a larger amount of waste products and the difference is rela tively big between coniferous wood and hardwood, where hardwood generates more ash. The degree of moisture of the wood also has a large importance for the efficiency, a higher degree of moisture gives less energy since a drying process takes place before the wood chips can be ignite. GOTFire recommends a wood chip quality where the chips have a dimension of 10–40 mm in the direc tion of the wood fibre, where a few pieces can have a maximum length of 50 mm in the direction of the fibre. Further, it is recommended that the chips keep a degree of moisture between 20 and 30%. One kilo gram of wood chips from pine trees that has a damp content of 20–21%, contains about 3.8 kWh.
