ÄFAB - TESTING & CERTIFICATION

TESTING & CERTIFICATION ÄFAB lab has established a well-adapted instrumentation lab that meets BBR's requirements of OGC. For example, we have combustion recording instruments for total hydrocarbon and various instruments to measure O2 and CO-contents according to CEN-suggestions.

Of course, we can also measure efficiencies and effects. We have a computerized cooling rig able to make complete test cycles against varying power drain. Today our lab manages all kinds of small-scale combustion installations in effect ranges up to approximately 100 kW. New platform scales Before this year's combustion season, ÄFAB has made additional improvements to the lab by investing in new platform scales, making it now possible to record minute-by-minute the weight of the fuel supply to the combustion.

Electricity consumption & consumption of power Another addition is that we now continuously log the electricity consumption on the equipment we use. This is something that also opens the door to measure the total consumption of power in combi-systems with for example, electric heating as a back-up. This has become more and more interesting where a combination of a water jacketed pellet stove and solar heating system are becoming more widely used on the market.

Thanks to these investments new load cycles have also been able to be recorded in a more clear way than before to be able to better document the efficiency of combustion equipment. ÄFAB's tests today fast reveal both the strength and weaknesses of equipment. This then allows ÄFAB to achieve their central business idea in helping manufacturing companies with product development. ÄFAB is not a certified testing laboratory for environmental measurement technology, but maybe in the future depending on the needs of the manufacturer. However, for now our business idea is to test the product before it then is taken for final official testing, preferably during the time of the development of the product. Of course ÄFAB can promise 100% discretion if manufacturers’ wish, or in the cases where the clients allow it, we happily present the results on this site.

Over the course of the last year, ÄFAB Sweden and UK based, Gastec at CRE (Part of the Dutch based KIWA Group) have been colaborating with the intention of widening the scope of each company's testing and certification programme. This endorsement from one of Europe's largest Quality Assurance providers will allow ÄFAB to extend its certification facility to cover a number of additional European Normalised Standards, including EN 303-5 for example. This has important benefits for our Scandinavian suppliers as it will further aid product development and market accessibility as well as offer more competitive rates.
