Know more about different materials used for air ducts Air ducts are an important part of heating and cooling system. They are not one-size- fits-all kind of product and come in a variety of sizes and shapes and can be made from different materials. Types of materials used for ductwork: 

Galvanized steel and aluminum – They are more commonly known as sheet metal, metal ductwork is very strong and is the easiest duct material to insulate because of its flexible nature.

Fiberglass duct board – This kind of duct material is a compressed fiberglass board that is excellent for creating square-shaped vents. It comes insulated, is easy to cut and seal with adhesive tape. Typical application of fiberglass duct board is between rafters and floor joists, or along an existing ceiling.

Polyurethane – Polyurethane is a strong, insulated plastic that is formed into panels, and then shaped into ductwork.

Flexible, non-metallic duct materials – These types of ducts can be made with a variety of materials, including PVC, polyester and plastic. These ducts fold in an accordion style, come in a variety of diameters and are good for snaking through difficult spots. However, these materials are prone to tearing, so it is important to be careful during installation.

About GI Duct and its benefits: Cost minimization: Galvanized steel does not have a very high cost so; a ducting system which consists of galvanized steel is not much affected by the market ups and downs. Longer span of time: Galvanized steel is much more durable than many other alloys. The galvanized steel has double benefits as it requires minimal maintenance and has a long span of life.
