CHAIRMAN’S THOUGHTS Hi All Well the season has got off to a flying start, all teams well into their campaigns, it is the only reason we continue to do this, at times we question the time, effort and commitment your management have to commit to continue running a successful club.

The season begins and we watch the players developing both as individuals and amongst their teams then we all just want to continue challenging ourselves to deliver a forward thinking Football Club.

As mentioned in the Sept Newsletter this season we have 3 new teams at the younger age groups, our U8 Lions have got to grips

with the league and Cup Competition much quicker than expected.

The two U7 teams have found life a little harder but the coaches are ensuring the smiles and enjoyment remains, all teams are now into the winter training and with the use of both Northfield and the old Billingham Campus Sports halls then training will continue right throughout the Winter Period.

The Village Ground is now being used each week and although we still have lots of plans for the site seeing our youngsters playing there was the reason we pushed ahead to acquire the facility. We will be about to start our next phase of improvements down at the ground to hopefully bring another pitch into play for season 2017/18 so please keep a look out for further information as we need to complete much of this during the winter. I and John are not seeing as much football as we would like presently due to our Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey impersonations each Sunday, much needed to try and make a contribution towards the running cost etc of the facility. Please keep introducing yourselves, asking questions and advice for improvements are always appreciated.

We want to thank all that attended the recent Race night, just short of £1300 was raised, again much needed for plans we have for development.

Hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves we do try to deliver our fundraising

nights under the guise of also giving you an enjoyable night out.

You may have noticed we have now got both evenings booked 2017, so please try and keep the dates to support the club, the autumn one next year we have decided to try something different, we are having a Pre-Season party, Friday the 8th September we have a local Musician and a top class showband just to ensure a fantastic party will be had, more details on that nearer the time.

You may have started to see the fantastic news that in March we have England very own “Captain Marvel” Bryan Robson OBE joining us, this event has already started to attract lots of interest and we want to see as many Billingham Juniors Supporters on the evening as possible, so please be very quick, we obviously have to offer the tickets on a first come basis. Check it out on FB, ask your manger or get in contact with me from any of the methods below reference details or tickets.

The club is always looking for more volunteers, either as a direct hands on basis or a parent that may want to join our Exec committee which gets together as and when needed. We encourage as many volunteers as possible subsidising any course costs needed or indeed a different pair of eyes seeing the club differently than ourselves but ultimately all wanting the same result.

SPORTS DINNER WOW, just WOW !!

We’ve delivered again!

Our sports dinner is the one and only Bryan, Captain fantastic, Robson. We’ve brought the ex England legend, captain, Man UTD Captain and of course Boro manager to your club.

Whilst the format will be different, a Q & A and pie n pea (not the usual meal) this is truly a first for the club.

England's own "Captain Marvel" Robbo will be on stage for approx 2 1/2 Hrs, talking through the early days in

Chester-le-Street, West Brom, Man Utd, England and of course the eventful times as Player Manager at the Boro.

Compare for the evening is "Paul Goffy Gough" Your tickets price of £30 will also include a Pie, Mash and Peas dinner.

More details to follow but you will need to be quick, this guy is well sought after, we have secured him over lots of local interest due to the Boro playing Man Utd the following day.

CLUB RACE NIGHT WOW! WHAT A NIGHT! The Billingham Juniors festival of racing drew big crowds, we had around 180 people support our efforts for your club. FANTASTIC! The Pie & Pea event was held following feedback through managers about costs for families to attend

and to further improve the money returned to the club we decided to run it ourselves, we’d like to think it went well.

Victoria, John and parents stepping in when busy were on hand to take your bets and pay the all important winnings.

£5 was the entrance fee, RACE CARD and also served up pie & peas for race goers with a cheese pasty option. The Race DVD was provided by the Swan along with the Pie & peas.

John McQuirik, aka Lee, was the MC for the night and ran through the races and marshalled the night.

A FANTASTIC evening raised around £1200 through your fantastic support and cutting costs.

We continue to receive nothing but compliments and praise for our facilities down at the Village Ground... Even thogh it’s not our vision but people can see what we are trying to do the care and pride we take in our facilities and as ever the fantastic Billingham Juniors welcome ! The weather has so far been kind to us, it’s been very dry and this weekend we had 80 cars parked on the facility... Last year even if the games had been able to be played then we would not have been able to accommodate the cars. A joined up thread to the theme of this newsletter is the importance to us of our fundraising attempts.

Please get behind all the activities we try to make the fun and something where if we ask for money.. You get something back.. If not then it just your support and to spread the word. It may not seem much but every little action supported by the 200+ families involved in the club make a difference.

GAZETTE WISH CAMPAIGN The club has registered for the Gazette’s Wish campaign.

Their is £25,000 up for grabs for local charities & not for profit organisations.

How does it work?

Registered groups collect tokens printed in the Gazette everyday from now

through until January 7th.

The total of tokens collected by all groups then determines the value of each token and the return to each organisation...

Simply the more we collect the more we get of the £25k.

The money collected as in

previous years will go into the central development fund. SO get collecting ask family, friends, colleagues, in fact anyone you know to collect on our behalf and either hand them into your team manager or pop them in the collection boxes at

Tesco Billingham Bottoms or Sainsbury’s local at the Whitehouse who have agreed to collect and act as a collection point for us

BAG 2 SCHOOL We have for the last 5-6 years collected clothes and textiles to help raise funds for the club’s central fund.

Over the years out 2 collections have raised around 3400 per year.

This year’s collection is on November 22nd but I need all bags to my address by November 18th.

If you have clothes that you no longer need bag em up and get them to your team manager/ secretary by Thursday 17th November..

The earlier the better.

This is what they DO accept •Men’s, Ladies and Children’s clothing •Paired shoes (tied together or elastic band around) •Handbags •Hats •Bags •Scarves and ties •Jewellery •Lingerie •Socks •Belts •Soft toys •Household linen •Curtains •Towels •Bedding (bed sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers) They do not accept:

Duvets and blankets Pillows and cushions Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats)  Soiled, painted, ripped or wet clothing  School uniforms with with and without logo  Corporate clothing and workwear

Textile off cuts, yarns or threaded material All clothing collected by Bag2School is sold, either sorted or un-sorted, to importers and wholesalers in many countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia.

Regardless of whether clothes are given to charities, clothing banks, council collections or Bag2School this is where the goods are all sold.

Every year UK consumers dispose of 1.13 million tonnes of clothing & shoes of which 540,000 tonnes (70%) are reused overseas, 160,000 tonnes recycled, 80,000 tonnes are incinerated and 350,000 tonnes end up in landfill.* Bag2School is a good way to dispose of unwanted clothing, raise money for your school or a charity of your choice and provide a supply of affordable clothing. Bag2School is working with WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) through the SCAP (Sustainable Clothing Action Plan) group for reuse and recycling and is a signatory to the 2020 commitment to reduce the environmental impact of clothing.

FA LEVEL 1 COURSE We have an FA Level 1 course starting Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th April and then running for the next 10 weeks.

The course also covers Emergency 1st Aid and Child welfare courses necessary to be completely qualified as a level 1 coach.

The course gives new

coaches the confidence to put on sessions for their teams and is a requirement of all coaches to fulfil our charter standard. Open to any one in our club who will commit to a team for 2 years, interested parties should contact Lee Shackleton for further details.
