AUGUST JEANS FOR GENES DAY!!

"I may be low to the ground, but my style is sky-high! Rocking these jeans for Genes Day like a true fashion hound!" An unnamed Dachshund somewhere

This month we have group training booked in for everyone. This will go over 3 major topics that the NDIS is now focusing on: Medication, Restrictive Practices and Goals/Reports.

It will be great to see everyone come together and really get as much possible out of these sessions. We would love to see everyone actively engaging and helping each other upskill. After this training we will be rolling out a new medication process in our SILs.

TOOWOOMBA

With only a month until September we begin our preparations for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flower w\here this year year it will be BigDog-er then ever! 2024 will see BigDog join the parade once again in in our best and brightest ‘Flower Power’ disco attires.

The Parade is held on Saturday September the 21st between 10:00 am and 12:00am. We are looking for more loud and proud BigDog employees to join in the parade. Costumes will be supplied.

The days are getting longer, and spring is on its way. I have a favourite mantra: "The Sun comes up, and the Sun goes down; it's what you do in between that makes a difference."

As I read through the case notes each day, I am continually amazed by the extra effort all our support workers put in to make a difference in our clients' lives. Sometimes, the road is not easy, but without our support workers' dedication, life would be much different for our clients.

The famous country singer Glen Campbell has a song titled "Try a Little Kindness." If you have the chance, give it a listen. You might be wondering where I’m going with this. All I’m saying is that the days are getting longer.

Rockhampton Day Service!

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS WERE A BLAST!! WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THEM AS MUCH AS WE DID!

The recent school holiday program in Rockhampton was another successful two weeks, bringing fun and excitement to all our clients.

The June - July program was packed with a diverse range of activities, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our museum visits provided educational yet fun experiences, allowing our clients to explore and learn about the history of Rockhampton trains and Art. Science experiments were a highlight, as clients conducted hands-on experiments including making slime and cloud dough out of cornflour!

Students had the opportunity to showcase their kitchen skills during the cooking sessions, creating delicious dishes and learning different techniques. The fishing trips were a hit, providing a perfect mix of relaxation and excitement as participants tried their luck at catching the biggest fish. (Unfortunately, we were out of luck and didn’t catch anything, but we had fun!) Cinema outings offered a chance to wind down and enjoy the latest Despicable Me Movie, while the Timezone arcade session was filled with laughter and friendly competition.

It was fantastic to see new faces join the program, and even more exciting to witness the great interactions and engagement among all participants. The program promoted a sense of community, and the enthusiasm and energy was amazing.

We look forward to seeing you all again next time for more fun-filled activities and adventures in September!
