The Position

Northern Lights Gas Co-op Ltd. is a member-owned not-for-profit natural gas utility comprised of 4101 services located in Mackenzie County. Our office is in La Crete and the position will be based at this location. We are looking for a highly organized, motivated individual, with strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and who is adept at providing support, coaching, and mentoring to staff within the Operations and Administration departments. This position provides direction to staff by defining work plans that align with operational, strategic, and business planning priorities. The General Manager is responsible for day-to-day planning functions, ensuring that reporting policies and procedures are accurately followed, and ensuring reports are produced in a timely manner. The role is also responsible for assisting in staff development and continuing education.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible to the Board of Directors

Co-operate and work with the Board of Directors, in developing and maintaining partnerships with the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops Ltd and its Membership, Federal and Provincial Governments, municipalities, and Investor-Owned Utilities

Co-ordinate related activities, train and direct other employees as required.

Provide job descriptions to all employees as required.

Make sure all work is done in accordance with the Operations and Maintenance practices Manual and other regulations.

Oversee all facets of the Co-operative.

To keep the Board of Directors informed of all activities, to avoid maladroit situations.

The Manager is responsible for providing leadership to a team of volunteers and supporting the entire team in delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities. Daily tasks include but are not limited to overseeing cash and process, merchandising, pricing, store cleanliness, processing donations and interacting with donors and community participants.

Skills Required

Strong interpersonal and social skills that contribute to a respectful and positive culture. Strong organizational skills. The ability to problem solve.

Strong independent worker who can contribute as part of a team. Ability to operate a forklift.

The start date is negotiable with a May 1, 2023 target. The hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day Salary is dependent on experience and skills.
