The Big Country HBA and Board of Directors are thrilled to have you join us for the 2024 Spring Showcase Open House. Our mission is to provide our members with the tools and support necessary to grow their businesses. This event is specifically designed to assist our builder members who are eager to sell their inventory.

This year’s showcase open house will feature 13 homes built in various Abilene subdivisions. Enjoy this self-guided tour, free of charge, and discover the latest designs, features, and amenities from the area’s best builders. You can visit the homes at your leisure and at no cost. Chad Massengill, a native of Abilene, Texas, commenced constructing homes in his hometown seven years ago. Throughout this period, he has remained true to a set of fundamental values that have guided his efforts in establishing his brand and reputation. These values, integral to CM Custom Homes, consist of honesty, integrity, hard work, and gratitude.

Born in Abilene in February 1982, Chad graduated from Abilene High School in 2001. With an innate entrepreneurial drive, he managed a landscaping business for most of his adult life while holding down a full-time job. Chad continuously refines his methods, emphasizing quality workmanship and efficiency. A pivotal element in his success is his unwavering dedication to leading his team, always being the first to start and the last to finish. His wife, Traci, plays a vital role in their family business, contributing her design expertise to Chad's projects. Together with their three sons (Austin, Colt, and Mason) and Builder’s Princess Brazos, they form a formidable team, keeping a keen eye on the future of new home construction in Abilene.

Kate Gonzales, currently serving as First Vice President of the BCHBA Professional Women in Building, has been an engaged member for four years. Presently, she holds the position of Chair for the TAB Professional Women in Building recognized at the state level.

Gene served in various roles within the Texas Association of Builders, including as President in 2022. He also held positions such as Membership Chair and HomePac Chair and has been active on both local and national boards for over a decade.
