BRAYN BRAYN F A L L 2 0 2 2 Baton Rouge Area Youth Network

BRAYN was started by and for youth-serving agencies in 2021 with the purpose of bringing providers together to create a collective strategy, share and leverage resources together, and create opportunities so that youth, families, and our BR community may thrive.

The Baton Rouge Area Youth Network (BRAYN) is a network of 60+ youth-serving organizations dedicated to providing high quality, accessible, and equitable youth development opportunities

1 ABOUT BRAYN

It is my pleasure to introduce the Baton Rouge Area Youth Network (BRAYN) to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System family as a coordinated body of community resources for schools, families, and individual students Since my arrival, I have been impressed with the number of community organizations offering programs/services to support the academic success of our students. Many of our schools have shared anecdotal stories detailing the impact of the resources offered during the school year and summer I am a dedicated proponent of school community partnerships as a strategy for improving student achievement and non academic outcomes such as improved attendance and behavior. Producing young people who graduate ready to create meaningful change drives my enthusiasm about the leadership BRAYN is providing to improve the coordination of the wealth of services and supports that exist to address the needs of our youth and families DearPrincipals, 2

Members of BRAYN are vetted to ensure the delivery of quality programs/services, safety standards are in place and followed, and regular evaluations that align to the KPI’s of the district is a practice. If you have a need your current school resources cannot address, starting a partnership with a BRAYN member organization will be the standard plan of action Our students, their families and the economic growth of our city are dependent on the ability to effectively connect the needs to existing resources in a manner that provide all stakeholders with what they need to thrive I have confidence that through carefully constructed community school models, we will enhance relationships and deliver on our promise to the community to produce a modern workforce prepared to create a robust and thriving economy

Clear data-sharing processes and agreements.

TIPSFORASTRONGCOMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPCONT.

Reciprocal data sharing helps schools and community partners to track and improve performance. BRAYN is in the process of defining data sharing agreements with EBRPSS

Intentionally blended staffing with role clarity to promote understanding of how the work is relevant to all.

When school community partners consider how staff from each entity can play complementary and supporting roles, community partners are able to provide schools with critical support, thus reducing turnover and increasing effectiveness.
