Welcome, not only to a new year but to what will be the dawn of a new era for us here at Bicester Motion.

Bicester Heritage has been the foundation of our 444acre former RAF site and continues to blossom each and every year but, from spring, it will do so in the company of Innovation.

That is because work will soon begin on a future-focused hub for mobility pioneers, complementing the specialists at Heritage preserving the work of bygone trailblazers.

The first buildings of the Innovation Quarter are scheduled to be completed in 2025 and it is exciting to see what might be in store. Not only for the buildings themselves, but what technology might be developed within them.

That is not to say Heritage has reached its destination.

We are proud that it is at the very forefront of the classic car movement and it is imperative that we protect that – both Heritage and this shared passion of ours. There is no better way to witness the artisans at work than at a Scramble and I hope you enjoy this glimpse behind the curtain today.

Hopefully we will see you again in April and October.

Polestar Synergy design concept Polestar The makes its UK public debut today at Polestar HQ in the Command concept the Works. The Synergy was created by three winning entries debut combining into the Polestar Design Contest, two exterior and one interior, and has been made into a full-size model.

Standing just 1.07m tall and 4.56m long, Polestar has labelled it a stunning supercar silhouette, proving electric supercars can be as exciting as internal combustion supercars.

ECOTY celebration Hangar 113 is home to the best cars in Europe, courtesy of Classic & Sports Car. This month’s cover, which used the former Blenheim shelter as its backdrop, is being replicated in the metal.

The European Car of the Year award turns 60 this year, and the magazine is shining a light on shock, surprise and sure-fire winners.

Goodwood shrinks for slot cars Mission Motorsport has teamed up with Scalextric to recreate Goodwood Motor Circuit, and you’ll find the stunning layout in Hagerty Clubhouse to kick off a country-wide tour.

Slot Track Scenics and Magnetic Racing have helped with the circuit dressing, truly recreating the historic track in miniature.

Both companies also employ veterans.

Take on the track yourself in Clubhouse, at the entrance to the Command Works, and see if you can beat some (real-life) Goodwood Revival winners.

Dates for your diary Bicester Heritage will host two more Scrambles in 2024, with the next on Drive-it Day weekend on Sunday 21 April and the final event on Sunday 6 October.

Tickets for April are available now to Pegasus members of Scramblers, with general sale opening on Monday. October’s event will be on sale on Monday 22 April. *All cover is subject to insurer’s terms and conditions, which are available upon request.

AROUND THE SCRAMBLE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Every car can make its driver smile. Few cars can make their driver smile after every single drive. The cars gathered on the main lawn do exactly that, though, and are inaugurating the High Smileage Club.

There’s no one obvious thread that connects these route masters, either. Some are powerful, others are most certainly not. Some are big, others diminutive. Some are new, others are (very) old.

But each is a joy and their only true link is that regardless of the road, the weather and the traffic, they are assured to improve your mood.

There are buzzy little things, like the Austin Seven and HEROERA’s Austin Healey ‘Frogeye’ Sprite, there are thundering machines like the spectacular BMW M3 CS and Porsche 911 Dakar.

That particular new car is representing Scramblers, the Bicester Heritage membership club, which voted the 911 as the finest allroads car of all time.

Bicester Heritage specialist Sports Purpose has kindly loaned its vision of the perfect 911, a highly exclusive short-wheelbase that matches usability with track-focused performance.

Meanwhile Land Rover has provided a car from its Works, because nothing charms its driver quite like the Best 4x4 By Far. There’s a Mazda MX-5 NA, the world’s favourite and most approachable sports car, a Prodriverefined Subaru Impreza, the P1, and new and old Alpines – arguably modern motoring most finely balanced car.

More recently, an unregistered delivery-mileage McLaren Senna GTR in stunning MSO Laguna Blue Colourstream sold with a winning bid of $1,279,000; while in the UK the team found new homes for a superb Ferrari F40 (£1,701,000) and the ex-Rod Stewart F50 (£2,940,500) – the latter being the most expensive vehicle ever sold on an online-only platform outside the US. Collecting Cars’ Private Sales is aimed at cars with values upwards of £250,000, with an even more significant benefit to those worth more than £1 million. These vehicles will be marketed to an enthusiast audience of more than 500,000 social followers and 200,000+ users – and sellers might even be lucky enough to find renowned motoring presenter Chris Harris talking about their car on film.
