ABOUT ME

My name is Bianca Marengo. Born in Argentina in 1991, I started studying Architecture in the National University of Rosario in 2012.

From 2015 to 2016 i participated in an International Exchage Programme at “Universita’ Federico II di Napoli” in Italy.

Once back in my hometown I started my professional career in the field.

Combining my studies with work, I’ve graduated as an architect in 2021.

I am an enthusiastic and curious architect, in constant pursuit of new experiences and knowledge to develope my personal and professional career.

Therefore, I moved to Europe in March 2022, currently living and working in an Architecture and Interior Design studio in Milan.

From July 2017 till March 2022, I have been part of Fundar Construciones. My tasks during that period were mainly on site. I started as a junior architect on site and after a brief period in the office I came back on site as a manger. In 2020 I carried out my first private commission for a private house in Rosario. The work consisted in the develope of the drawings, blueprints, specifications and construction documents; the calculation of the preliminary estimate on cost and the construction time and planning.

CAPPELLA: urban reconversion

Located in the province of Naples, the municipality of Cappella is the second most important settlement in Monte di Procida due to its condition as a historic center. The road network of Monte di Procida is configured as a large ring that extends throughout the territory and leads all traffic towards the historic center (Cappella), where there is a serious shortage of parking and from which numerous dead-end roads branch out that link the center to the coast. The proposal is based on two critical points that exist today in the Cappella area: the road network and the public space. In the Cappella area, complex intersections can be identified due to the convergence of different types of mobility such as pedestrian, automotive, and bicycles. Therefore, it is proposed to reorganize the urban road network through the construction of a network of paths that favor some forms of mobility such as pedestrian and cycling. This new network takes up the existing ring and generates new possibilities for travel and connection with the island territory while allowing contemplation of the landscape.

In addition, due to the lack of public spaces, the project proposes revitalization of public spaces in order to connect the Cappella area with Lake Miseno. This network, in addition to defining the landscape of the area, assumes an important role in the urban structure and in the structuring of the area as it reorders the fabric, qualifies the tissue, and promotes the connection and integration of the territory.

International workshop of architecture

“Designing heritage urbanism landscape”IUAV

The case study chosen for the workshop development wants to reflect about the general theme of relationship between cities of art and tourism forms through specific case of Venice.

The new structure is placed along the south side of Santa Lucia Station, in the triangular area that directly faces the Canal Grande, in front of “Ponte della Costituzione”. The project aims to create a new reference point for visitors and a social hub for the city, reflecting the relationship between cities of art and tourism through its history, culture and ecology. By focusing on the interpretation of existing architectural elements and resources present in Venice: water, canals, roofs, patterns, colors, passages, surprises and rhythm; the project generates a new architectural landmark that blends with the surrounding urban context and enhances it. The surrounding public space is treated as an extension of the museum with the integration of a green area and an openair exhibition space dedicated to artistic and cultural initiatives. The rehabilitation aims to enhance the connection between the museum and the urban context along the Canal Grande, generating new areas of attraction and liveliness.

Based on the analysis of a pre-existing construction in the area, we detected in it a rhythm in its façade that we transferred to the plan generating a grid that serves as a structuring element for the entire space. Having as main premise the reconstruction of the façade seen from the arrival to the island, the different parts of the museum are arranged to follow the order predisposed by the grid and thus generate a new main façade of the island.

HOUSING COMPLEX IN PICHICNHA

2014

The project is located in a particular corner of the Pichincha neighborhood in the city of Rosario.

The complex is determined by a public pedestrian crossing controlled by the complex that configures two project areas. On one hand, the southern sector of the plot is planned as an extension of the neighborhood, taking up its density, its full and empty spaces. Respecting the characteristic building height, it appropriates this condition and establishes itself on the land as a new completion system that allows its easy reproduction. A courtyard system provides for the control of intermediate spaces through opening relationships and visual connections, generating community relationships, proximity and care situations that are generated at the neighborhood level and encourage neighborhood relationships.

On the other hand, in the northern part of the land, a tower that combines a housing sector with an office sector and a plate whose ground floor is released to commercial premises and amenities for the housing responds to the edge condition facing the coastal park and high-rise housing in this sector of the city. The growth in height allows, in addition to densification, the search for views towards the river and the neighboring parks.
