The body is the purest presentation of a human being. In the next parade, with various decorations and covers, we will give in to unwanted or arbitrary conventions. Drawing from the human body, relying on the body, is a kind of freedom from these economic displays and social conventions. In this way, the artist wants to show the original form of humans through capitalist goods' evanescence. But human presentation with various gures and gestures reminds us that the human body does not seem free from social impositions, such as the intellectual gesture. Perhaps, the most unrestricted state of a human being is when she is alone in a small room with herself and lives with her desirable gestures. Elham Ghorbani has been able to free humans from the gestures involved by turning gestural images of herself into painting. Even we take sel es of ourselves but for others. Although it's our image, we're facing someone else. Even the self-portraits of the painting confront the painter with someone whom she barely knows. The Other Self. Like it or not. There are many others hidden in us, and art is the place where we encounter them. Photography with an accurate representation of reality is much more related to the real world than painting. Careful recording of texture, color, and form in photography is disassembled with the transformation of these photographs into paintings. In this series, the artist has shown her loyalty to painting by attening photos with a sensible depth and three-dimensional state. Moreover, there is a balance in color and surfaces between the gures and the environmental shapes of the painting, making the gestures in the photo much less active than in the paintings. This incident completely separated the works of this exhibition from photography and brought them to the painting media. The brush's free movements could break down the details of the photo and lessen the importance of the gesture to other levels of painting. This transition from photography media to painting media and turning a beautiful image into a sublime one is worth pondering. Farouk Mazloumi
