It has just started snowing again, the coldest season marks the time, that in the mind of Maiko is the her present day, the moment when she ends her apprenticeship to nally become one Geisha.Reports the various steps of her life, from the rst Minari (learn by observing) to the Zashiki (the art of conversation) and Misedashi (the debut as Maiko). The only thing left now is the Erikae the change of collar that from red becomes white sign of adulthood. The okobos sink into the snow which in the meantime covers everything. Only the gold foil of the Kinkakuji remains clear to purify every negative thought.

I take my lenses wherever I travel and I take series of pictures, very often close-ups. My great inspiration are modernistic architects like F.L.Wright, Gropius, Mies, too. I particularly admire their logical and consequent approach to architectural form.

Isaiah 2:4(GNB) This painting was in uenced by the exchange of missiles of words between the president of USA, Donald Trump and North Korea’s president Kim Jong Un. Since World War II, America and Russia have been dancing around each other and shadowboxing each other; too chicken to attack each other, they in uence wars in other nations by being on the opposing sides of the con ict causing death and destruction.

Ray of Georgia (Unchained My Hands) Painting, Oil Color on Canvas 2018 O Ye m i Tubi
This is another work in my Roses and thorns painting series and was in uenced by the movie of Ray Charles’ life. Born poor and raised by his mother in my adopted state of Georgia in the USA. Ray lost his sight when he was a child about four or ve years old. Ray Charles grew up at a time when people of his skin colour were considered less human and were denied equal opportunities with the white people. To imply that Ray Charles used his music to echo the cry of African Americans during the civil rights movement, I changed the wording of Ray's songs - “Unchained my heart” for the title of this painting to “The Ray of Georgia: Unchained my Hands.”

Ironically Belly dance, which is a form of an entertainment for men in the Middle East with women partially dressed dance erotically for men’s pleasure. Sexual abuses against women are even more common in the Middle East than in the West.

It’s a common tradition in Swaziland for the king to choose a wife each year. The Reed Dance ceremony is an annual event held in August or September, where unmarried and childless girls and women travel from the various chiefdoms to Ludzidzini to participate in the eight-day event, and would-be brides are publicly checked to ascertain their virginity. A chosen young lady will be added to the list of the queens of Swaziland and supposedly to enjoy a life of luxury.
