Interaction with God worksheet

(Write what you believe God sees, what you think he observes in you, including your physical sensations.)

Appreciation building example: I see you on your bed remembering how you enjoyed yourself.

I see you then as well. You were warm, relaxed and so caught up in the gift I gave you. You felt my breeze touch your face.

There is a little smile on your face and you are stretching out as you go from detail to detail. You particularly like ...

Problem resolution example: I can see you… breathing heavily, scrunching up your shoulders; I can see your eyes beginning to fill with tears.

3. I can hear you.

(Write what you believe God hears you saying to yourself.)

I hear you wishing your children could have been there with you.

You wonder why you don’t stop and do this more often and then suddenly wonder if you have thanked Me for this gift. That makes you wonder if there are other places in your life where you are missing the chance to be thankful and appreciative. The thought troubles you a little and you find it distracting. When you go back to the memory you feel close to me and grateful.

I can hear you saying to yourself: “How will I ever get out of this mess?” “Why is my partner not as concerned about this situation as I am?” “Why do I keep messing up like this?” ”I’m so frustrated with myself!”

4. I value you. I understand how you feel.

I understand how intimidated you feel by this situation. It feels all-consuming to you. It feels as if you are about to sink under the weight of this problem. You feel the same way as when your parents announced that they were getting a divorce. I understand why you feel sad about this. I can see it has shaken you. I understand how angry you are; it makes sense to me.

5. I am glad to be with you and I look upon your weakness with tenderness.

(Write about what you perceive God might be saying to you in a kind, tender, loving and gentle way.)

Appreciation building example: Your mind wants to drift away and get busy. It seems sometimes like now you have to start working trying to be more pleasing or valuable. Notice again how a thankful heart brings out some of the best things I put in you.

Love, generosity, mercy and kindness and let Me smile at you just a while longer.

Problem resolution example: I am glad to be with you. I look on your weakness with great compassion, ___________________ (name). I am always glad to interact with you, even when you find yourself in the midst of intense pain/ frustration/ sadness.

6. I can do something about what you are going through.

(Write about what God might be saying as to how he’ll be with you and assist you at this time.)

Appreciation building example: When you stop to appreciate my gifts you experience how we are alike. Each moment your heart is thankful and open, more of what we both like best about you comes to life.

There is more inside you that I want to grow. I would like to take you on a tour of all my goodness and savor each memory together.

Problem resolution example: I can do something with and for you in this situation. I will strengthen you with my grace. Remember how your friend encouraged you last week? I will continue to provide for you. Remember the ways that I have been with you in the past? I will continue to be with you in the present, working for and in you.
