I'm Bhumika Jaguja, year student pursuing Architecture from Vivekanand Education Society's College of Architecture.

As a student of this generous field, I have always been curious, compassionate and diligent. I strongly believe that Architecture is a continuous effort to unite people, homes, and the natural environment into a more profound harmony, as advocated by Ludwig mies van der Rohe. My appreciation for the discipline grows each year as I understand not only its depths and impacts but also its intangible values.

I'm keen to further enhance my skills, gain practical knowledge and sensibility in a professional way.

01 The Trail – Pavilion Design Kochi, Kerala

Semester : 02 Project Type : Pavilion Design inspired by Biomimicry Total Built-up Area : 105 sq.m.

Site Context

• Naturally ventilated site with many trees and diverse vegetation providing thermal comfort.

• Aspects related to rainfall is not considered as the biennale is from December to March.

• Primary wind direction is from north in 4 of the months.

• Site has welcoming expression arising a sense of art in people.

Biomimicry - Locomotion Of A Starfish •A sea star's skeleton is made up of many plates that move like flexible joints. (In sea urchins and sand dollars, their skeletal plates are fused.)

•Their body is made up of lattice work made of bony platelets woven together by muscles which can flex the arms in any direction.

- A Craft Guild Udaipur, Rajasthan Semester : 03 Project Type : Multi family dwelling for crafts community Total Carpet Area : 560 sq.m.

User Profile – Bandhani Rajasthan

Site India The word Bandhani is derived from a Sanskrit word ‘Banda’ which means ‘to tie’. The art of Bandhani involves dyeing the fabric which is tightly tied with a thread at several places to produce different patterns.

1. Motif development : Printing to transfer the design onto the fabric

2. Tying : Parts of the fabric are pinched and tied into knots according to the design

5. Selling 3. Dyeing : Tied cloth is dyed & the knots are removed to reveal the design 4. Washing and drying

What is a Bandhani crafts guild?

The tie dye clusters are based in Udaipur from 78 generations and are involved in this profession throughout the year for their livelihood.

Communities like Khatri, Nilgar and Rangrez are self sufficient units and they indulge in this craft along with block printing.

The site has an area of 916.11 sqm and shows a rectangular shape.

It is oriented in north-west and south east direction.

The site has an elevation 595 m and has a gentle slope towards water body.

Towards the south-east lies the Fateh Sagar lake.

Climate Study & Analysis • Climate zone : Hot and Dry Climate Zone • Comfortable hours : 16.5% - 1444 hours out of 8760 hours • Shading needed : June to Dec : 1788 hours • Dec to June : 1308 hours • Wind Flows From Southwest To Northeast Direction • Microclimate is created due to the lake which decreases the temperature on the site by 1 as compared to the overall temperature of Udaipur.

Shading Requirements • As Udaipur falls under hot and dry climate zone shading is required during the months of March to Nov from 8 am to 5 pm.

Hence, the goal was to create a form that resonates with the surrounding and reflects the idea of a sports complex.

It should have equal distribution of open, semi-open and closed spaces.

Creating a ‘genius loci’ to indicate the spirit of the place.

Pimpri Chinchwad is famous as Industrial Township, it is also recognized as Detroit of the East with the presence of many national and multinational automobile companies. This housing studio contends the city's need for better housing for growing populations deserve well-designed housing that provides security, promotes the community's well being, and meets their needs.

Climate Analysis This wheel indicates the 4 aspects i.e Temperature, Wind speed, humidity & precipitation and Summer and Winter Solistice and hence the HSA & VSA angles can be established.

Urban Design - Master Planning OBJECTIVES: • To minimize road area yet ensure connectivity throughout the site.

• To Place Distributed RG And Not Confine It Within Road Networks So As To Increase Safety While Accessing.

• Distributed RG serves all the residential plots equally.

• Placing RG towards west so that air could precool and enter inside the site.

• To give public road frontage to commercial.

• Placing social at the entry junction of roads to create landmark and attract more people from residential spaces.

Design Drawings Site Strategies • To have a central RG mostly shaded with surrounding residential towers creating an onlooking element • Creating a sense of enclosure with the towers reciprocating to the site boundary.

• Placing a high rise (tower a) at the edge, towards the highway to create a landmark element for ease of identification • Providing terraces in individual towers as a social gathering space and to promote bonding of communities.
