I enjoyed them,” said junior Armstrong Antoine. “I ate crackers, slices of pepperoni, chicken wings and cheese blocks as soon as the spread was put out.” Students were first served pasta with tomato sauce and a house salad before their main dishes. After the pasta, a choice of chicken, steak, or a vegetarian option were available. After dinner, the DJ played many of the top hits from the past year. All the upbeat songs put everyone in an ecstatic mood. The dessert table was filled with cookies, marshmallows, and fruit available to dip in a chocolate fondue fountain. Attendees also got to enjoy a sundae bar with toppings. Prom dress styles were generally long and extravagant. Dresses incorporated all colors of the rainbow. Glitter dresses were

Another trend gentlemen wore were pants that went above their ankles with no socks. “What I love about putting prom together is that every class has its own personality and own unique ideas. I’ve had a similar theme such as ‘Around the World’ but no two proms have ever been the same,” said Ms. Record. Record and the class council held many meetings to brainstorm ideas for the ideal prom night. “The class officers worked well together as a team, and they were very organized when it came to ordering everything that needed to be ordered. They were also very creative and that’s why this night is so special,” said Record. Most seniors decided to extend prom night into a full weekend. “My friends and I rented a house. We spent the weekend playing games, cooking

out, and just enjoying time together,” said senior Yeimiliz Cruz. “I attribute most of the success of tonight’s event to the class officers. In terms of planning, this has been a great class since they’ve started here at Bunnell, and tonight they put their best feet forward,” said Admin. Dr. Dowling.

to be friends with someone who causes them to shy away from staying true to themselves. Your actions and the way that you carry yourself will impact how your friends, teachers, and people treat you in general. Please, do not be afraid to follow your passion. Whether it is sports, music, acting, or art; get involved. It is okay to branch out and try something new. Do not feel pressured into following a family legacy or partake in the same activities as your friends. Unfortunately, you cannot go back in time; choose your activities and friend groups wisely. When you come to high school, build relationships. I am not talking about those romantic relationships where you are constantly searching for your high school sweetheart. Romance and love will come later on in life. Instead, build friendships with anyone and everyone. Do not be afraid to put yourself out there. More importantly, do not be afraid of other people. It is likely that other students are feeling the same emotions you are feeling at this very instant. Use that fear to your advantage and make a friend who can laugh about the anxiety and nervousness with you later. Find a mentor and ask your teachers for help. Advocate for yourself. The more comfortable you are saying the word “help,” will prove to be beneficial in your future. Attend as many school events continued on page 10...

Seniors Joseph Pellegrino and Lawrence Lam are the class of 2017’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Pellegrino and Lam have been able to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom throughout their past four years at Bunnell. One of the biggest decisions that any senior has to make is their final college decision, and this did not come easy for Pellegrino and Lam. There were many factors that influenced their final decisions. Pellegrino will be attending Harvard University with a concentration in Economics and a secondary concentration in Mathematics. “I had to make a difficult choice between two colleges, which I was forced to think about everyday in April. In the end, on April 30, I decided to attend Harvard because of the fantastic resources it possesses and the opportunities I hope will be made available to me after I graduate,” said Pellegrino. Lam will be attending the University of the Connecticut to study Computer Science Engineering. “There were many factors that influenced my college decision. Most notably, I have almost 40 ECE credits accumulated from taking multiple AP classes since

Sitting here, writing this paper is difficult for me. It is emotional to realize that high school is coming to an end, and I will be leaving all of my friends soon to begin a new chapter in my life. As I reflect on my high school career, I will always think about the good and bad moments of these last four years that will live with me forever. Looking back on the time I spent here, the most important lesson I learned is that you must always be yourself. Entering high school can be a very confusing time for most kids. You are going to want to fit in. You are going to want to have as many friends as possible, and you will be quickly caught up in a new social environment. I think that I can speak for a large majority of the seniors when I say, do not worry about fitting a certain mold. Do not try to be someone you are not. Reality check: Pretending is not cool. It will not make you look good, and most people would not want
