Gifts for Good
by bhfound
Have you ever struggled with finding a thoughtful, memorable gift for someone?
Perhaps someone who has plenty of material things and loves doing good for others? Or maybe that someone who likes to do good in our community is you.

Barwon Health Foundation’s Gifts for Good allows you to pay it forward – on your own, or on behalf of others - by purchasing a gift for an individual or family in need.
Purchase a ‘gift’ from our online shop and we will send you a card (or digital print out) to give to that special someone, explaining the generosity you have extended to a stranger in their honour.
Whether you are looking for a Birthday, Christmas or corporate present - give the gift of good health. Whatever the occasion, it will not only make the recipient smile, it will also ease the burden on a Greater Geelong resident experiencing a difficult time.
Gift options:
A personal hygiene pack for at-risk youth - $35
You could keep a family together by funding a night’s accommodation for a parent to stay close to a child spending time in hospital.
A sanitary pack for a new mother - $45
Help a new mum in need by funding a pack that could provide all of the post-birth essentials we take for granted that many don’t have access to.
An Andrew Love Cancer Centre Care Pack - $49
Gift a care pack to a patient receiving treatment at Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre and help to brighten their day.
A night’s accommodation for a parent - $150
You could keep a family together by funding a night’s accommodation for a parent to stay close to a child spending time in hospital.
Helping Geelong and beyond
While the majority of Barwon Health’s 26 sites are located in Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast, the health service cares for people from Little River, to the South Australian border and everywhere in between.
In 2022, we were grateful to receive a substantial donation from a philanthropic local couple to kick-start an Emergency Accommodation Fund for those accessing the health service who are in need. Since its inception, the Foundation has worked closely with Barwon Health’s social work team to ensure that this assistance is offered to individuals, couples or families in need for a variety of reasons. One example of this was on December 23rd when a Warrnambool woman began to feel unwell while enjoying Christmas celebrations with friends.
Upon returning home she began to vomiting, unknowingly experiencing a heart attack and was transported to University Hospital Geelong via ambulance. The social work team contacted the patient’s worried husband, who had travelled to be by her side, about accessing the Emergency Accommodation to ease the unexpected financial burden they now had at an already expensive time of year. This ensured the husband could stay nearby to support his wife and ultimately spend Christmas Day with her in hospital. The couple was so grateful for the above and beyond care they phoned the Foundation office on the first day it re-opened for the new year to ‘pay it forward’ by making a small donation to the Fund they had accessed.
We are grateful to donors who make this above and beyond care possible.
