The 21st century has seen a dramatic rise in urban population and urban development. Asian cities have experienced the most dramatic urban transformations in the built environment. Through this proposal, I intend to confront the impact of densification and hybridization on the urban spaces panning out in the Indian cities. I plan to find the relationship between the existing urban spaces and the quality of life attached to them. The aim is to create and redevelop quality urban spaces which would respond to the diverse and dynamic environment of a high-density city like Mumbai. The interesting case of Indian cities is the usage of unplanned/ leftover spaces/ gaps in the city by its population There is a scope of redeveloping them and thereby increasing the social engagement spaces in the city.
