Wycombe Heights Newsletter Apr/May

A Note From ...

As the weather continues to improve, it’s fantastic to see so many of our members back out on the course, making the most of the brilliant golfing conditions. The course is looking better than ever, and we’re thrilled to see Wycombe Heights buzzing with activity once again!

For those members who renewed their membership by 1st April, your loyalty vouchers are currently being printed. We will notify you as soon as they are available for collection on-site — thank you again for your continued support.

Following a busy first three months of the year, we have an exciting calendar of events planned both on and off the course. Highlights include our upcoming Club Championships, always a favourite in the diary, along with a variety of social events that promise plenty of opportunities to relax and connect with fellow members.

We are also proud to announce that we hosted our first PSA Prostate Testing Event on Saturday 10th May. The PSA test is a simple blood test that measures the level of prostatespecific antigen (PSA) in your blood. PSA is a protein made by both normal prostate cells and prostate cancer cells. It’s normal for small amounts of PSA to be present in the blood, and these levels naturally increase slightly as you get older and your prostate enlarges. A higherthan-normal PSA level may indicate a problem with the prostate, but it does not necessarily mean cancer is present.

We will look to organise another event either latest this year or next year but please do check with your GP or other local testing events.

Employee Of The Quarter - Q1

I’m also delighted to announce our Employee of the First Quarter — Mark Henley.

Alongside his tireless work on the driving range outfield, Mark has played a key role in supporting our maintenance plan, making a real difference to the clubhouse and driving range — something we’re sure you’ve noticed and appreciated too.

Congratulations, Mark!

Best regards, Mark

Course Update

Hi everyone,

With the golf season now in full swing, it’s been fantastic to see so many of you out enjoying the course. Behind the scenes, the team and I have been working hard to deliver improvements that we hope you’re already noticing.

Recent work has included reshaping and widening several fairways and approaches, as well as introducing a new Pro Walk cut to enhance playing conditions and visual presentation. We’ve also completed construction of the new white tee on the 17th, which we are aiming to reopen in time for the Club Championships, fingers crossed!

You may find the greens slightly slower than usual at the moment; this is due to overseeding, which is necessary to support upcoming scarification — a process that will help us maintain healthy surfaces and keep the speed up as the season progresses.

All of this work is made possible by our fantastic greenkeeping team, and I’m delighted to officially welcome Sian and John to the crew. Many of you may have already spotted them out on the course, and I know you’ll join me in making them feel at home.

A personal highlight for me so far this season was the Greenkeepers’ Revenge event — a huge success, thanks to the creativity and effort of the team, and the great support from Manj and the committee. It was a brilliant day and a reminder of how special our community is.

Lastly, we’re pleased with the positive feedback on the new tee mats on the short course, which have added to the playing experience. We’ll soon be sharing more details about upcoming bunker renovations and new tee signage for the short course — so watch this space!

Thanks for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you out there enjoying the course.

An Update From...

Hi everyone!

I hope this newsletter finds you well. If you weren’t ready for the golfing season at the last edition of the newsletter (and if you’re anything like me), after watching the Masters and the rollercoaster that was Rory McIlroy’s final round, you should be chomping at the bit to get out there now. What a tournament and many congratulations to Rory for joining the exclusive Career Grand Slam club!

We have recently held both Ping and TaylorMade fitting events here at the Centre. Many thanks to all those who attended the event. A reminder that between myself, Michael and Simon – we can custom fit anyone here at the Centre for both TaylorMade and Ping. Simply book in via the Professional Shop – there is no charge for our members for this service.

In my time here at the Centre, I have seen a greater uptake of technology usage for golf. GPS golf watches, range finders and even apps on one’s phone have changed how people play golf, especially when visiting

other courses. The same can be said for more people using an electric trolley rather than carrying their bags. With this in mind, we now stock the Motocaddy ME Remote electric trolley. This is a hands-free electric trolley that follows you when you play, thus one less thing to think about when playing. For any questions on this please ask in store.

We have recently secured the services of Simon Quilliam as PGA Professional. Simon joins the team with a wealth of experience and will be on hand both in the Professional Shop as well as PGA Coach. With over 20 years’ experience, we are delighted to welcome Simon to the Wycombe Heights team. Should you wish to book a lesson with Simon, please contact the Professional Shop and we will book this in.

May represents a month of good offers here in the Professional Shop. The following are just some of the offers I would like to highlight: 3 for the price of 2 on Stuburt and Oscar Jacobson clothing (cheapest item free). TaylorMade Spider Putters are 10% off in May – if it worked for Rory it will work for you. For the ladies, we are offering £10 off when you purchase 2 or more JRB clothing items.

You may have noticed that we have received our new lithium battery-powered buggy fleet. Please remember that members can reserve a buggy both online and in the Professional Shop.

Best, Duncan

Dear Members,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the beautiful weather. I am reaching out to share some exciting updates from the Driving Range that I think you will really enjoy!

Firstly, Brand-New Range Mats!

I am pleased to announce that we have installed brand-new driving range mats on bays 13 - 24 to enhance your practice experience even further than before. These new mats are designed to provide a more realistic feel, giving you better feedback on your shots. Whether you are working on your irons or woods, these mats will help improve your consistency and comfort whilst practicing.

We’re excited to announce that during May Half Term, from Monday 26th to Sunday 31st May, kids can eat free with every paying adult meal! It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the whole family along and enjoy some quality time together.

If you have any upcoming celebrations - big or small - please don’t hesitate to speak to us about how we can help make your special moments even more memorable.

Secondly, Extended Hours - More Time to Play!

We know many of you love to practice, so we have extended our opening hours! The Driving Range will be open longer to give you more opportunities to hit balls at your convenience.
