AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION BRIGHTENS FUTURES AT THE FRAMINGHAM CLUB

The American Lung Association brought a ray of sunshine to our Framingham Club with their Backpacks for Bright Futures event. Our members were overjoyed to receive brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies, thanks to the generosity of the organization. This thoughtful initiative provides Club members with resources that will helpthemsucceedintheupcomingschoolyear.

In addition to the backpacks, the event featured engaging activities and informative sessions on healthy living. Volunteers from the American Lung Association were on hand to share valuable tips and resources, ensuring that our Club members are not only prepared academically but alsohealth-conscious.

The event didn't just provide material support; it also fostered a sense of excitement and readiness for the new academic challenges ahead. Countless parents and guardians expressed their heartfelt thanks, highlighting howmuchthissupportmeanstotheirfamilies.

The success of the Backpacks for Bright Futures event is a testament to the power of community partnerships and the positive impact they can have. Together, we can build abrighter,healthierfutureforall.

ATTORNEY GENERAL VISITS THE FRAMINGHAM CLUB

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell visited the Framingham Clubhouse in support of the Healthy Summer Youth Jobs program. Joining the Attorney General were State Representative Jack Lewis, State Representative Kate Donaghue, representatives from State Representative Pricilla Sousa’s office and Senate President Karen Spilka’s offices, Mayor Charles Sisitsky, Framingham City Councilor Phil Ottaviani, andmanymembersoftheAttorneyGeneral’steam.

After taking a tour of the Framingham Club, these welcomed guests had the opportunity to meet with two of our part-time staff members, Sam and Nick, who shared their experiences with working at the Club andtheirgoalsforthefuture.

A big thank you to the Attorney General, her team, and all of our guests for visiting the Framingham Clubhouse! Your support and engagement make a worldofdifferenceinthelivesofourkidsandteens.

MEET FRAMINGHAM CLUB

MEMBER, LARISSA

LARISSA,HOWLONGHAVEYOUBEENA CLUBMEMBEROFTHEFRAMINGHAM CLUB?

I started coming to the Club in Kindergarten which was during Covid so the Boys & Girls Club was my first school ever. I’m in 5th grade now.

WHATDOYOUDOATTHECLUB?

I get to do fun things in the Club like going to the computer room. I do projects with the 3D pens there Now that I'm in 5th grade I get to go into the Teen Center and go to Teen Night this year which I’m really happy about.

WHATDOYOUDOATTHETEENCENTER?

I do a lot of reading in there. I also joined Torch and Keystone Club so that’s fun!

WHATISYOURFAVORITETHINGABOUT THECLUB?

My favorite thing to do at the club is the Crochet Club with Ana, the staff.

MEMBERSHIP AND TRANSPORTATION NUMBERS STRONG

BGCMW continues to see strong growth in membership and transportation needs. Collectively, the Clubs have over 600 registered members in all three communities - Marlborough, Hudson & Framingham.

To meet the needs of our growing membership,BGCMWcurrentlyprovides bus transportation to 14 schools collectively across our three clubs. This includes four schools in Hudson, four schools in Marlborough, and six schools inFramingham.

BGCMWiscommittedtoensuringthatall members have access to programs and services, regardless of their financial situation. This school year to date, we have awarded $14,000 in transportation scholarships to help families offset the costofbustransportation.

While our Clubs are currently meeting the transportation needs of most members, there are still seven children onthewaitlistforthebusinHudsonand onechildonthewaitlistinMarlborough. A total of 12 children living in shelters have had their registration fees waived sofarthisyear.

BGCMWiscontinuallyworkingtoexpand ourtransportationservicesasitisaneed inourcommunityandwillensurethatall members have the opportunity to participateinourprograms.

MATHWORKS EMPLOYEE CARWASH A SUCCESS

A huge thank you to our amazing MathWorks volunteers for their incredible work on their annual carwash fundraiser. They washed over 100 cars! This is the longest-running third-party fundraiser for BGCMW, and it wouldn’t be possible without theirdedicationandhardwork.

Their efforts not only raised significant funds, but also brought the community together in a spirit of teamwork and generosity. Each car they washed was a testament totheir

commitment and enthusiasm. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the various programs and initiatives at

BGCMW, ensuring that more children have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We are immensely grateful for their continued support and look forward to many more successful events in the future. Thank you,MathWorksvolunteers,formakingarealdifference!

The Helen of Troy volunteers came by this summer to help out at our Marlborough Clubhouse They cleaned and organized the art closets and also facilitated two art projects with our 5-7 age summer group

The Crowne Castle volunteers facilitated STEM activities with members in the Hudson Clubhouse. They constructed very large tower buildings and tinkered with fibers and lights.

FACILITIES DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES FROM BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SURPRISES CLUBS WITH GENEROUS DONATION

Facilities Department employees from Boston Scientific made a surprise visit to BGCMW with a generous donation. For the past year, they collected scrap metal from around campus. They brought it to a scrap metal buyer who gave them $547 for all their unwanted metal which they then donatedtotheClubs!

The funds raised will go a long way in supporting our various programs and activities, ensuring that our members continue to have access to enriching and educational experiences. We are incredibly grateful for their thoughtful contribution and the effort they put into making a difference.

In the spirit of gratitude and inspiration, we encourage everyone to find their own unique ways to contribute. Let’s carry this momentum forward and continue to support each other, creating a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that reaches far and wide. Thank you once again to the Facilities Department employees from Boston Scientific for their remarkable donation and for reminding us all of the powerofunityandsharedpurpose.

FRESH CUTS FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL

Josh Pereira, the owner of Title City Barbers and the Title City Cares Foundation, has demonstrated his commitment to supporting the Club. His recent donation of $1,000 in gift cards to our Framingham Clubhouse is a testament to his generosity andbeliefingivingback.

This thoughtful gesture will provide our members with free haircuts at the Title City Barbers location in the Natick Mall. As parents prepare their children for the new school year, this donation offers a muchneeded relief, ensuring that every child can start the school year feeling confident and lookingtheirbest.

We are incredibly grateful for Josh Pereira's continued support and the positive impact his actions have on our community. His generosity is a shining example of the power of giving back and the positive influence individualscanhaveonthosearoundthem.

CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF IMPACT: JOIN US FOR THE BGCMW GALA & AUCTION

The evening will feature a diverse silent auction, a delicious three-course dinner, and a special Fund-A-Need segment. We will also have the privilege of honoring the recipients of the Michael C. Sullivan Memorial Award, the Community Partner for Youth Award, and the Cary Corkin Memorial Award. This year, we are proud to present the Michael C. Sullivan Award to Dominique Jean-Pierre, alumni and current Board of Director, Sanofi with the Community Partner for Youth Award, and the Cary Corkin Memorial Award will be awarded toLisaMacDonaldfromMathWorks.
