





































The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest hosted the Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast, presented by St. Mary's Credit Union, on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Marlborough. BGCMW honored six individuals who have been committed to the Clubs – personally, professionally, and/or financially – throughout the MetroWest community
As a 78 year old institution with well-established roots in Marlborough, Hudson and the surrounding communities, it is so important that the volunteers and staff who have been champions for BGCMW are celebrated.
This year ’ s Hall of Fame inductees included Rosemary Corley, BGCMW Board of Director; Joshua Major-Paschal, Framingham Clubhouse Alumni; Bill Miller, Founder of Marlborough Youth Basketball Association; Paul Mina, CEO of United Way of Tri-County & Marylou Vanzini, Founder of Marlborough Girls Club. The Ron Young Memorial Award was given to Patty Miele, former Executive Assistant to the BGCMW President.

This year we were fortunate to have a great partnership with the Mass State Police. In January, MA State Troopers Gray and Richardson came to the Framingham Clubhouse and had an open dialogue about everything from family, to becoming a state trooper to relevant topics like George Floyd and injustices in today's world. Teens from all our Clubs were in attendance.
In April, our members were invited to visit the Mass State Police barracks and received free swim lessons. They also got a tour of their facility and saw the State Trooper helicopter take off! What an amazing experience for our members!
Right before Halloween, State Trooper Farrah Grey revisited and spent time with our clubhouse members in Framingham. She spoke to Club kids about Halloween safety tips and gave out special treats to our members!
In honor of Black History Month, our Framingham Clubhouse hosted a very special Zoom session with Dr Brent Chrite, the ninth president of Bentley University Teens from all three clubhouses, Framingham, Marlborough & Hudson, were in attendance Members were given the opportunity to hear all about Dr. Chrite's upbringing in Detroit, his challenges and how he got to where he is now.
The teens also had the opportunity to ask him a wide range of questions to which Dr. Chrite was able to offer valuable insight. Thank you Dr. Chrite for your time, guidance and openness in speaking with our members Here are some snapshots of the Zoom session!
This year, the Celtics and Chick-fil-A Greater Boston partnered up for the Threes that Feed program to support food insecurity at participating Boys and Girls Club locations We participated for the first time this year and it was a total success! They hosted an amazing event that featured the Chick-fil-A cow, Celtics cheerleaders, full dinner for all Club members from Chick-fil-A and they even brought over the Celtics Championship trophy! This event was held in all three of our locations!
BGCMW ran a successful Teen Health Workshop Series and inter-club nights. Facilitated presentations on gang violence, mental health and how to ask for help, vaping, teen self-esteem, effects of marijuana, bullying and gang violence were collaborations through The Massachusetts Partnership for Youth
SMART Girls had over 50 participants throughout our clubs in the first half of 2022. Through a partnership with BGCA and the Dove Self Esteem Project, girls from all of our clubs explored self-esteem and female identity, goal setting, club community, practicing healthy communication skills, learning to trust and tell, celebrating uniqueness, as well as coping with anger
Strong Keystone leadership clubs at each location had over 60 members participating organization wide. Club and community service are a hallmark of the group. Youth Substance Abuse Prevention 5K run, Park St Cupboard volunteering, and holiday festival participation were some of the groups highlights
Triple Play kept our kids moving at all of our clubs Over 120 participants across 3 clubs took on the challenge of physical fitness along with learning healthy habits for nutrition Staff members coordinated targeted fitness exercises like trunk twists, stretching, running and station drills which were combined with fun gym activities They also had obstacle courses, quick ball and shipwreck to keep our members fit
Dr. Brent Chrite, the 9th President of Bentley University, Had Dialogue with TeensFRAMINGHAM - The Manton Foundation partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest to make a transformational gift of $100,000 that provided financial assistance for youth to attend the summer program at the Framingham Clubhouse.
The Summer Program included activities for youth and teens ages 5-14 for eight weeks this past summer. The Summer Reading Incentive Program, field trips, arts & crafts, sports, and STEM are among the activities ran for the summer program. It also included breakfast and lunch to all participants daily, through a partnership with the Framingham Public Schools and Project Bread.
The Manton Foundation has invested $400,000 in the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest for capital improvements since 2017, but this gift directly impacted the youth and their families.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest hosted a successful summer in which many youth participated organization-wide. The program had a variety of age appropriate experiences for boys & girls ages 5-14. The program focused on social development, team building, participation,andleadershipskills.
We had many special visitors including the Marlborough Fire Department visiting the MarlboroughClubhouseforTouchATruckDay.

On the evening on Sunday, September 4, 2022, four major bridges in Massachusetts, the Zakim and Longfellow Bridge in Boston, the Fore River Bridge in Quincy/Weymouth, and the Burns Bridge in Worcester, lit up blue in honor of the Massachusetts Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs and the thousands of children, teens, and families that Clubs serve across the Commonwealth.
Our Club members participated in the Dove Self-Esteem Project, My Hair, My CROWN in efforts to boost confidence in kids with curls, coils, waves & protective styles. Our workshop facilitators created a safe and open space for our members to discuss how stereotypes and experiences can affect self-esteem.
On November 3rd we hosted a graduation ceremony for all the girls who participated in this workshop series Dre Brown, an empowerment speaker, came to facilitate a talk with the girls about self esteem and being the true you. She was an amazing motivational speaker! All members received a Dove tote with many Dove products!
MARLBOROUGH –
The Yawkey Foundation has awarded grants to Greater Boston nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing pathways to academic and economic mobility for individuals in Greater Boston, perpetuating the legacy and philanthropic efforts of Tom Yawkey and Jean Yawkey. The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest, Marlborough Clubhouse, was awarded $100K to remodel the Technology Center and adjoining multipurpose room to provide a welcoming, safe, and dignified space for all members to participate in STEM and computer activities, and for teen members to participate in programs separated from the after-school program serving young children. We had a grand opening and ribbon cutting on November 30th to showcase the new center for clubhouse members

The Annual Gala & Auction has been a signature event of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest for the past 16 years After two years of hosting the event virtually, we gathered in person and it was better than ever!
The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest hosted the Annual Gala & Auction on Thursday, October 20th at The Verve Hotel in Natick. The event was presented by TJX Companies, Inc.
Our goal this year was to Light the Room Blueand we did just that! We would like to thank everyone who helped and participated in our Annual Gala & Auction this year It was definitely one for the books! We are proud to announce that we raised $110,000! The event featured a robust cocktail hour with a silent auction, an exclusive dinner and an exciting after-party.
The Gala & Auction supported the work of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest in providing the youth of our community a safe space to work on academics, engage with positive role models, and develop into confident leaders. The event consisted of a cocktail hour, dinner, jewelry pull raffle including a diamond necklace provided by Wright Jewelry & Design, a silent auction, decor sponsored by YG Companies & K&E Dsign, and entertainment by South Shore Sound & Lighting.
The silent auction included approximately 150 items! It had everything from luxury hotel stays, home goods, to sports memorabilia. It was a great event even if you were not in the room! Supporters were able to register and participate virtually by bidding on the amazing auction items!
